That's what I'm wondering. But I'm pretty sure that its just because Trump proposed it as to the reason for it being a "non-starter".

Disagree. County by county is a good compromise imo. It balances the need to keep our economy going while also providing public safety against the virus.

Yup, but for those states you can just okay the entire state.

For their own problems? Are you ****ing seriously going to argue that dead Americans are not his problem simply because they are located in states with Democratic governors?

So...collectively about 5% of the US population should go back to work?

Sitting around waiting for the Federal Government to do everything is not a good thing. Governors have many tools at their disposal.. A few have been very vocal complaining but have done very little themselves... Contacting ventilator manufactors directly saves time and red tape..

Demanding the Federal Government purchase these.. Warehouse them... and then distribute them takes time that could be saved if they did some of this directly.. and for this people like you are critical of Trump... Blows the friggin mind.

It's wrong to punish them for the sins of Gotham City.

I think ti's a great approach to figure out which parts of the country need to open when. There is a huge difference between the amount of cases in NY compared to Wyoming. No reason to keep the bread basket of the country in quarantine because there are so many cases in NY. Imagine no crops being planted this spring. That would be disastrous.

No, you can't. There are 189 cases of covid in Idaho. 3 of the counties in Idaho have the most cases. Blaine county at 82, Ada county at 53, Canyon county at 21. The rest of the counties have below 10 cases or zero cases. You do not want people from Blaine county working in Carnas county (the two are right next to each other) or visa versa. The chances of spreading the virus would be exponentially higher than say Clearwater County getting their first case of covid from Idaho county which only has 1 case (again the two are next to each other). And then there are counties which are two counties removed from any other county that has even just 1 case.

So no, you can't just OK the entire state.

NYC had no sins and this is not a punishment. It is an effort to save millions of American lives.

I don't see how any quarantine/shelter at home order would stop crops from being planted.

The States tried to buy Ventilators and other medical supplies directly.

Then the federal government outbid the States.

Not business as usual but back to business. Don’t know why so many people can’t grasp this.
