    CNN is satire.

Yeah my uncle worked for the CIA he did it to me. It wasn't that big of a deal.

Why do you think it automatically leads to false confessions?

I guess you must hate Trump then for constantly calling that "satire" a news service.

I'm calling bullshit on your claim that your uncle waterboarded you.

My sister worked as a corporate auditor for the IRS for more than 25 years.

At the office, they used to have a big cartoon up with a caricature of a Middle Eastern guy with a bomb and rifle that said "Middle Eastern terrorist"

A second caricature had a Latin American guy with a bomb and a rifle that said "Central American terrorist".

A third caricature had a white guy with a briefcase, calculator, glasses and an IRS name badge and said "American terrorist".

The only people I've heard make that claim are those who opposed what they call "torture" anyway.

I would ask what means of interrogation you think should be utilized but I've had that kind of discussion before and I already know what the answers will be.

Well, considering half my friends from the Army are professional interrogators who would be the first to tell you torture doesn't work, I'd say we should use their techniques, which do.

You can start with FM 35-52.

Guns are not an issue. Trumpians think they are because it is such a simple issue. Fact is, no lawmaker wants to take your guns, and no lawmaker wants to abolish the 2nd Amendment. That is an urban myth spread by Trump, the NRA, and certain conservative pundits. Trumpians are gullible enough to believe it.

The real issue is, Trump supporters don't want to engage the real issues that are important today, Trump's tariffs, his poor decisions regarding North Korea and Iran, the 45% turnover rate in the White House, the sycophants he is appointing because he fears and dislikes intelligent discussions, Trump's coziness with Russia and the Russian probe, and his support of torture.

Guns and the 2nd Amendment are easier subjects for discussion.

Once again, Trump shot from the hip and managed to get everything wrong. He sometimes forgets he is the President of the United States, and making policy at campaign rallies is not very bright.

Yesterday, he told an Ohio audience, “We’re knocking the hell out of ISIS. We’ll be coming out of Syria, like, very soon. Let the other people take care of it now.”

Once again, the Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces made a complete fool of himself. The Pentagon has no intention of withdrawing from Syria. The Pentagon has every intention of carrying the fight to ISIS. How many times has Trump told us he never wants to telegraph his military moves to the enemy? He just told the enemy what he wanted to do.

What he wanted to do? Once again, cooler heads, perhaps Mattis, will tell us Trump did not really mean what he said. How many times have we been told that because Trump acts like an idiot quite often?

As is the case here. He apparently does not know that the United States and its partners control almost all of the oil in Syria. Iran supports Syria. In May, Trump is expected to pull the United States out of the Iran deal, meaning that he will reimpose U.S. sanctions on Iranian oil. It would be profoundly counterproductive to hand Iran control over a swath of Syria that contains huge amounts of oil at the exact same time.

Put a different way, once again, Trump has no idea what he is talking about.

Of course, that generally is the case. What he enjoys most is making up crises, then moving from one crisis to another, always being the center of attention. Recent examples would include his impulsive decision to speak to the North Korean dictator, sparking trade wars with his protective tariffs, appointing the warlike Bolton as his NSA, choosing the queen of torture for his next CIA director, and this moronic statement. That is just in the past three weeks.

As a Marine officer, I was trained in intelligence as I became the S-2 at regiment, 11th Marines. As such, I received training in interrogation. Although we may be tempted, we were trained never to use torture. It was not humanitarian thing. It was a practical thing. Torture doesn't work for two reasons.

One, you are really pissing off the prisoner. This does not encourage his cooperation.

Two, if it is effective, and that is a big "if" and you get some information, you are getting information you want to hear, not accurate information.

We were trained to use techniques that encouraged cooperation.

Then, of course, there were the field manuals that disallowed torture. Marines follow orders.

As I have said many times, Trump creates one controversy, then moves on to the next controversy, and the next one, and so on. This achieves two objectives. This practice salves his super ego. As people talk about the strange, moronic things he says, he is the center of attention. Everyone is talking about him.

Secondly, while the media is concentrating on all the stupid things he says and does, they are not talking about the Mueller investigation and the Russian probe.

Some say he is dumb like a fox. However, it is not good that we have a President who moves from idiotic controversy to another just to be the center of attention and avoid Mueller.

Two times this nation used waterboarding and it was done outside the USA in the ME. And by golly it worked.

Military personnel have very personal reasons for being against any mistreatment of captured enemy combatants because they want to be treated well if they are captured.

Not that that necessarily works out for U.S. military personnel consistently.

    In order:

    1) Generally tariff's are a bad idea. But if you want to get any kind of decent deal in trade you have to be willing to resort to the stick as well as the carrot.

    2) I agree with most of his decisions involving North Korea and Iran.

    3) Don't care about White House turnover.

    4) That's related to his horrible personality that though I find abhorrent is not really my problem.

    5) Coziness with Russia? I don't see President Trump as "cozy" with the Russians as the previous administration was.

    6) I'm made my position clear on what is and is not "torture".

    Hope that helps.
