Wingers make fun of Schiff, but I find him absolutely rock solid on TV and on his committee.... He's calm and controlled and actually takes a second to think before he speaks... Cummings is a little much and Nadler doesn't have much gravitas, although he's solid.

Schiff is the one who frightens them the most, so he gets the most attention.... I went through his last 10 posts on Twitter and ZERO typos... maybe HE should be president...

I have no idea how your questions are supposed to back me into a corner but I’m sure this will be entertaining. I have no idea how many intelligence officials are listening in on trump’s conversations with foreign leaders. If Trump offered to give aid to Ukraine if they investigate Biden’s son, that would potentially be a quid pro quo. Asking for bribes is against the law.

 

We don't have the full story, obviously.

1. Asking a country like Ukraine to investigate an American who just happens to be the son of the man Trump will likely be running against is bad enough (bad in a sense that it would have gotten any other President impeached). But it probably won't lead to impeachment. Still, you can imagine what the reaction on the Right would be if Obama had done this to someone like Romney.

2. If Trump was using military aid to coerce Ukraine into investigating a political opponent (or even floated the idea), his Presidency is over. Trump will be impeached and convicted in the Senate. This isn't some nebulous crime like campaign finance reform. This is something everyone grasps immediately and knows is wrong. The establishment GOP would finally have the thing they've been waiting for to turn on Trump openly.

That's why I have trouble thinking it's (2). It would bring down the Trump Presidency, and I think we would have heard about it before this.

Trump hasn't block anything the OLC and DOJ officials have according to the law. Has the President of Ukraine said he was OK with releasing transcripts of their confidential conversations. Do you think other world leaders will have confidence in being able to speak confidentially to our President in the future?

They should be taking action and we should have a special investigator investigation of Biden and his son. Our two countries need to discuss that and come to an agreement on cooperation in the matter. Those discussions between our two leaders need to be very candid between them and confidential to them.

No, and if that happened, it should be an immediate disqualifier. Despite what Trump said, The Times and The New Yorker have been looking into that and reporting on it over the past year. We don't know the full story on the Biden thing. It sounds pretty sketchy.
