Well, of course. They are our enemies as it stands. It really hasn't helped that over the past month the Democrats have tried to start a new cold war by accusing them of doing just about everything possibly negative in our society. That isn't how you win friends. However, I believe their status as enemies is based off of outdated Cold War policies. Russia does not need to be an enemy and I have hopes that during this Presidency we will find common ground and become allies. We have bigger problems quite frankly than Russia abroad and domestic. James Mattis is correct in his assessment. He's correct for the here and now. However, I hope his assessment will change as time progresses.
