IMO it occasionally takes one to deal with one.

Congress has been quite lazy of late regarding their responsibilities.

If they want to keep their power they need to gear up to deal with Trump.

Depends. If you look at where Trump is during an election campaign and how he gets free media coverage, it could just be brilliant.

"Forget Romeo and Juliet or Cleopatra and Marc Antony. At least when it comes to politics, one of the great love affairs of all time may have been between Lyndon Johnson and… himself.

"Johnson leads the list of 42 presidents on measures of 'grandiose narcissism,' according to a new study by a team of psychologists published online by the journal Psychological Science."

Given the choice of candidates, Trump gets my vote.

Who's getting your vote, I wonder?

Definition of narcissism: At the core of extreme narcissism is egotistical preoccupation with self, personal preferences, aspirations, needs, success, and how he/she is perceived by others.

I don't believe Mr. Trump is concerned by how he is perceived which is why most mainstream politicians and liberal media. He says what he believes, most people call that self-confidence. Sticking to your guns and not backing down.

Psssst, here's a hint. Most politicians are narcissistic.
Obama, Clinton, Cruz, etc etc, that's right, narcissistic.

Trump would seem to qualify as a narcissist, at least:

"If it is not clear how the promise of great power can change an essentially harmless narcissist into someone oppressive, let’s see how Donald Trump’s political views have changed thus far. Prior to this presidential race, most of us knew Donald Trump as a charismatic, cheeky, highly entertaining figure that seemed like anything but a bigot.

"Mayor Bill de Blasio of New York told CNN that the Trump he knew, and the Trump New York knew, was nothing like the intolerant xenophobe he appears to be today. It is a well-known fact that in the past Trump was a registered democrat who was in favor of liberal causes like abortion rights and pals with the Clintons.

"But since the promise of power has consumed him, he has become the poster boy for ultra-right wing intolerance. This change in personality and core values perfectly illustrates how the promise of power can transform narcissists.

"And as the race for the Republican nominee progresses, it has become increasingly obvious that Trump’s yearning to rule greatly exceeds his desire to 'Make America Great Again,' as his slogan says."

    Another smear attempt.

Almost all successful people are narcissists. obama - the guy who thinks he is the smartest, most knowledgeable person on every subject - is one of the biggest narcissists ever.

"What happens when another world leader who is a loose cannon doesn’t give Trump the admiration that he feels he deserves? We can be sure that notoriously anti-American dictators like Kim Jong-un of North Korea or Iran’s Supreme Leader Khamenei aren’t going to give him any respect, let alone praise. How would a President Trump react when he feels he is being put down or undermined?"
What do you think would happen?

do you realize your reply, quotes me citing the very article you're attempting to cite to me now? do you not assume I read the article I cited, or did you not read my entire message before clicking the reply button... I guess I don't understand the reason why you would cite my own article to me and quote it to me, I already read it, clearly thats why I cited it for use in this thread... because it has relevance to the discussion of presidents and narcissism...

    Someone has

"Many people have written about the president's narcissism.

"Some have suggested that he may be a sociopath.

"There is a checklist, developed by Dr. Robert D. Hare in the 1970s and used around the world to diagnose psychopathy.

"Dr. Hare would likely admit that it is not perfect but it is widely used in psychiatric settings and prisons to determine if an inmate is safe for release.

"It may be useful in assessing our president and the people with whom he has surrounded himself.

"Dr. Hare’s test is simple: a list of 20 criteria, each given a score of 0 (if it doesn’t apply to the person), 1 (if it partially applies) or 2 (if it fully applies).

"The list in full is: glibness and superficial charm, grandiose sense of self-worth, pathological lying, cunning/manipulative, lack of remorse, emotional shallowness, callousness and lack of empathy, unwillingness to accept responsibility for actions, a tendency to boredom, a parasitic lifestyle, a lack of realistic long-term goals, impulsivity, irresponsibility, lack of behavioural control, behavioural problems in early life, juvenile delinquency, criminal versatility, a history of 'revocation of conditional release' (ie. broken parole), multiple marriages, and promiscuous sexual behaviour.

"A pure, prototypical psychopath would score 40.

"A score of 30 or more qualifies for a diagnosis of psychopathy. 'Psychopaths: How to Spot One' Tom Chivers, Telegraph, April 6, 2014)"

That's true enough, but Trump seems a little more thin-skinned than your average psycho:

"Just beneath the surface layer of overwhelming arrogance lies a delicate self-esteem that is easily injured by any form of criticism.

"We have all seen Trump unjustifiably lash out at a number of people with harsh and often extremely odd personal attacks.

"When he thought he had been treated unfairly by Fox News host and Republican debate moderator Megyn Kelly, he responded by calling her a 'bimbo' and later saying that she had 'blood coming out of her eyes, blood coming out of her wherever.'”

    Doesn't surprise me.
I guess the question is whether or not we need another Obama in the White House.

I posted some of your link in hopes others would read its content.
I'm not arguing Trump is unique as a narcissist seeking public office.

I wish I was amazingly complicated, but I'm not. I do have serious doubts about the integrity of any candidate capable of funding a successful run for the presidency regardless of where they get their money from. For decades I've voted Green when choosing a president. This year, Bernie is beginning to make me consider other alternatives.

I checked out Bernie and heard him going on with the anti-rich spiel so typical for Democrats. Where's the appeal in Bernie? Just that he seems less off-the-wall than the others and the least crazy?
