Being a soldier is a wonderful thing I completely agree but just being a soldier doesnt nessecarily mean shes fit for presidency. Leavenworth exists for a reason. Not all soldiers are capable of becoming president.

My respect goes out to all soldiers that have made the commitment though.

She's a person who is smart enough to stick to her guns and know the value of life.

    That goes a long way.

    Uh huh.

You've been caught twice in one thread now - first by stating you've never smeared Palin when you have - and now this lame response.

Might I suggest a new approach come 2020?

And ON topic (lol) - I'll say it one more time: If the Dems were smart they would listen to Padma Lakshmi Tulsi Gabbard when it comes to this. You can't win over Trump supporters - and certainly NOT independents - by treating them as people to be talked down to, overlooked, dismissed, or mocked.

I mean, you'd HOPE that the DNC would have learned from Hilla and her "Deplorables" comment - but apparently they're just as dense as St. Cellulite herself. Good Grief, you could go all the way back to the Revolutionary War and the Brits derogatory "Yankee Doodle" song that the nascent US picked up and made their own.

How many times do I have to tell people here WHY we study history?

    ___________

As a point of personal privilege I would like to address this attack on my character, since (apparently) I have been put in the position of defending every keystroke that I have ever posted at PF.

I will then follow by addressing the portion of this post that is actually ON-Topic,

    "caught twice"?

    1) Everybody should have known that the picture was a Padma Lakshmi.
I already apologized for making the assumption that people were (already) aware of the mistaken meme.
(I would refer you to Post #58.)

The next time I post something like that, I will include an extensive timeline and copious footnotes

    2) I said that "I never smeared Palin".

    Now, let's "deconstruct" this:

(And, once again, I would like to use this opportunity to point out that I am extremely flattered that you have every keystroke of my posting history cross-referenced like a Concordance to the Bible).

What follows is a Post that you dredged up (from another Completely Unrelated thread)
    (in a thread from OVER A YEAR AGO - Nov. 22, 2018.)

Here is YOUR Response (Contained in Post #55) (emphasis added)

    You "believe"?

And, in your mind that qualifies as you "catching" someone?

And, you had to dredge up a post from Over a YEAR AGO?

Anybody can "believe" anything (Roswell Aliens/Bat Boy/ 9-11 Was an Inside Job/Etc.).

    One person's Unilateral "Belief" Proves Nothing/Catches Nobody/Etc.

In other words, you proved nothing and "caught" nobody.

I still maintain that I did NOT "smear" Palin.

    You "believe" otherwise.

So, for the sake of Civil Discourse at PF--I guess we will have to just "agree to disagree".

    How about THIS:

BOTH of Us can have a "new approach for 2020".

I am sure that everyone would concede that "new approaches for the new year" would be something that everyone should consider.

So--Here is MY Suggestion for a "new approach for 2020".

Since you seem to be particularly concerned with:
    1) Pictures of Tulsi/Padma and
    2) "Perceived" "Smears" directed toward Sarah Palin

My "new approach to 2020" will be to NOT post anymore Bikini Pics of Tulsi/Padma and not make any remarks (whatsoever) on the subject of Sarah Palin.

Since this is a 2-Way Street

May I suggest a "new approach to 2020" for you? (If you don't mind).

You may want to consider a "new approach to 2020" that doesn't involve your Ongoing Pattern of Harassment (directed at me and my posting content).

Also, you may want to consider responding to posts (in a thread) to posts (FROM the Same Thread)--Instead of Dredging up Totally Unrelated Posts, from Ancient Threads, just to make what you "believe" is "a point".

The constant dredging up of Ancient Posts (and using them in Current Threads) is Harassment (plain and simple).

So, here we have it (for the "new approach to 2020"):

I Will NOT Post any Bikini Pics of Tulsi/Padma
I Will NOT make any reference to Sarah Palin

And, your "new approach to 2020" will be to:

Cease and Desist the Ongoing Pattern of Harassment (that you have been directing toward me).

Does that sound good, for a "new approach to 2020"?

I will keep up my end, will you keep up your end?

Do we have a deal? :handshake:

    ___________

There is some truth to what you say...

BUT, I really don't think that there is much that the Dems can do to "win over Trump supporters".

The 27% of Eligible Voters who facilitated Trump's Electoral Victory in 2016 are pretty much ALL going to vote for him in 2020.

The Dems just need INCREASED TURNOUT.

For example, in MI and WI the losses can be traced to Hillary underperforming Obama's numbers among Inner-City Blacks.

Had the Black Voters turned out (in 2012 Obama Numbers) in places like Detroit and Milwaukee--Hillary would've won those states.

Obviously, PA was a bit trickier.

BUT, with an Increased Dem Turnout, I think that the Dems could win back the Western Suburbs (regardless of Tulsi's "opinion" as to the direction of the Dem. Party).

The Dems CAN win the election without flipping any Trump Voters.

BUT in order to make that happen:

They need to have a Massive Turnout, Stay Away from Wasting Votes on 3rd Parties and Avoid the Circular Firing Squad.

You make some interesting points, and you know what they say about "history".

"Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it. Studying history is necessary to avoid repeating past mistakes".

Hopefully, the Democratic Party learned some hard lessons from 2016's Catastrophic Defeat.

Because, if they didn't, the USA will have 4 More Years of Trump.

Carry on, and you (and your family) have my sincere wishes for a Happy Thanksgiving.:handshake:

"They are eating themselves and its so bizarre to see"

Sounds more and more like Sweetie Pete's accumulating ingredients for a gay porn site...(?)

Maybe he could boost his standing with Blacks if he made a few video clips starring himself and Jussie Smollett!

I think Trump has earned a second term, but if he had to lose to anyone, I would prefer it be her. I think she would be different than the others. She's a quality person, in my opinion.

    Happy Thanksgiving!

I'd say she is right. But being right won't get her the nomination or win friends among other Democrats. Fact is middle America, I'm not talking geographically, ideology wise. Middle America gets ignored by both parties.

Oh, Dear Lord. Rebuttal of your posts =/= attack on your character. I dunno, an example of calling out someones character would be calling the poster him/herself stupid and the like. That didn't happen here. You've said "I have been put in the position of defending every keystroke that I have ever posted at PF." but that's not true - it's only the INCORRECT posts.

When Seth is calling you out - nah. Don't believe it. You got caught. Own it. And Seth is probably one of the most level-headed people here, when HE'S calling out people - sheesh. And regarding Palin, you made the claim, it's pretty easy to prove it wrong. In this case all I needed was a search. And again, you brought it up. If I say something like "I never smeared Hilla ever," you can be sure there'd be a dozen LW-ers - heck, maybe even a few RW-ers - pulling up posts proving me wrong within three minutes of me hitting the submit post button. Seriously, do you think your're the ONLY one whose posts I challenge? Margot2 and I are really going at it right now. There's been many more. God, the stories Jack Napier could tell you if he were still here - In any event, when your posts are wrong they will be proven wrong. You're free to try the same thing to me. In fact, the entire board membership is free to do the same thing to the rest of the board membership. I seriously can't tell if you're saying that posts should remain unchallenged on a DISCUSSION BOARD or WHAT you're saying. And once again, I've asked you several times to unlock your account to me so I can PM/start private conversations at times and take it off public chat because half the time I can't figure out if you're serious or not so I assume you are.

See, the rest of this I (mostly) agree with - although I doubt anyone's ability to learn from the past, but whatever. 95% of history happened because people were too stupid to learn from other peoples mistakes, and I think I'm being conservative on that number. But the thing is, this is entirely Tulsi's point - one of the lessons the Dems SHOULD have learned from 2016 was NOT to repeat Hilla's "Basket of Deplorables" statement, because not only did it strengthen the resolve of Trump supporters, it cost her with independents. A LOT. Turnout is a part of a winning strategy, but it won't work by itself - you have to peel away support from independents AND Trump supporters and you start by NOT insulting them, THEN by winning them over. The DNC seems not to know what Abraham Lincoln has said on the subject: “Do I not destroy my enemies when I make them my friends?” I mean, there ya go. I mean, even TRUMP of all people knows this. He's doing outreach to African-Americans, "What have you got to lose?" kinda stuff. Granted it's primitive but still miles ahead of what the DNC is doing - which is nothing at all.

This I wish for everyone here no matter their political affiliation. Turkey's in the oven, fireplace is going, and it's snowing outside. Good times.
