Not till AFTER they have paid their depb to society, they lose all rights of freedom once in prison.
Bad thing though is prisons should never be private owned, ever.

Yes he is. But he's not the victim of voter's choice to allow people who have served their time to vote. That's the way Fox is trying to portray him.

I definitely think we should take away people's rights if the crime they are accused of is a crime like the one he committed -- screw due process, accused murderers should have no rights.

    ....................but, the constitution says different

of course he's not a convict. he stands accused of a crime at this time and that's all. you asked if convicts need to be convicted before they can be considered convicts. so i ask again, is this a serious question???

So you believe someone should be convicted of a crime without due process?

There is no Governor DeSantis. We do have a Governor-Elect with that name, though. How can someone not in office have an official voice in policy? Also, our current governor and the previous few have all been on Team-R.

That's crazy that they can take away your VA benefits. We only seem interested in punishment in this country. Prison should also be about reform. Taking away disability payments or voting rights does not help anyone.

How does being in prison somehow pay a debt to society? Prison should be about reform. Some criminals may never change, but many countries have much lower recidivism rates than the US and those countries take much better care of their prisoners and some do allow them voting rights.

Last Tuesday, Floridians voted in favor of restoring voting rights after the debt to society is paid; meaning, all jail time served, community service complete, fines paid, etc.

It's what we have. Is the convict supposed to send a check to every American (society?)

Prisons should be dark, dank, smell horribly, and be all about incarceration.

IOW, a place you wouldn't want to return to.

Your opinion is noted, but there is plenty of evidence that prison should be based are reform and rehabilitation in order to prepare criminals to become productive members of society.

I am not saying we should do away with incarceration. I just see the evidence that if the prison system focused more on reform and rehabilitation that prisoners could have lower recidivism rates, like they do in other countries.

The shooting took place on February 14, 2018. The "register to vote" leftists who went to the jail and signed him up obviously had him register as a Republican to discredit Republicans.

Rehabilitating convicts would be bad for profits, so it won't happen on a wide scale. Private prisons is what we have, now, so profits above everything else.
