Video shows police killing of Daniel Shaver in Mesa, Arizona (viewer discretion advised)

They had how long to cuff this guy? Contradictory orders. The dude was prone with arms u0 cor how ****ing long, and some of you say this is a good shoot?

This is horrendous.

I hope these shooters are smashed by a train.

Excessive? This is murder. And the cops getting off is ****ing insane.

This country makes me die on the inside.

 

It was one cop who fired. Get the basic facts straight at least.

 

Somebody somewhere in some capacity has to teach people not to play with guns, that is, if they can't put 2 + 2 together for themselves.

 

Either way you slice it how ****ing long do you have to lay there listening to contradictory orders?

And why was the jury jot shown this beforehand?

 

At the beginning of the video the cop, after screaming for the couple to get on the ground says, "apparently we have a failure to comprehend simple instructions.....". I have to assume they had already had some type of contact with the people, which from the officers comments, they did not follow, or in his words "comprehend".

I tell you what, if I was in that situation, I would ask if it was ok to blink.

A real tragedy that is seems some people want to lie about.

 

I would like to see the entire bodycam video unedited from the time the police exited their cars.

Without a doubt that is what the jury saw.

I wouldn't mind reading the transcript of the trial either.

 

Maybe i read conflicting reports but apparently the jury weren't shown the bodycam footage.

I can't imagine any prosecutor or public defender not wanting the video to be presented as evidence.

Personally, if I were on the jury, I would stand up and tell the judge to go straight to hell if he or she ruled the video inadmissible.

The juror is the terribly forgotten person in the legal system anyway.

 

So what he was charged there was an investigation he was found innocent !! I watched the video on CNN and the dumb drunk ahaull appeared to reach for what very well could have been a weapon. If it was the cop could kaput.

 

The video is what I see would. Lear the cop anyways.

 

I saw the video last night and I can't believe that the cop thought that the man could crawl, on the floor with his legs crossed. And then he shot the guy dead. I mean why couldn't the cop come forward (or order another cop) and frisk the guy once the Shaver was on the ground and arms stretched out?

 

That cop should be locked up for life. I can't even begin to comprehend some of the embarrassing comments in this thread. This guy was crying, begging for his life and was completely distraught. This video was sickening. We can't continue to let police officers get a pass in instances like these. We need to make examples of them.

 

I'm an old vet close to 70 and can crawl on the floor with my legs crossed (just tried it to be sure), and damn sure would, just tell me how slow or how fast.

When I was arrested on mistaken identity I spoke only when spoken to and did exactly what I was told to do, that is, to lay face down on the pavement and do not move. Once it was determined by radio that I was not the perp they sought all I had was a little dirt on my shirt.

I consider that a very small sacrifice indeed for my helping of the law be enforced.

 

So they can see through the wall into the room that there was no one else in there? The guy in the hall didn't have the rifle, they can't take a chance that there isn't someone else in the room who did.

 

...and you know he wasn't acting...how?

So, you were told to lay down on the ground, face down, not move at all, while the issue was sorted by police?

Well, that's 100% NOT what happened in this murder case (and yes, cops can also commit murder). The man wasn't told to lie down and be still. He wasn't cuffed. He wasn't searched. He wasn't detained in any way. He was ****ing told to crawl towards the cops. What the hell kind of procedure is that?

"Oh, he might be armed, so we decided to neither have him be still, nor search or cuff him. We ordered him to crawl towards us on the ground. Why? More fun that way!"

 

This was murder. These cops had every opportunity to effect an arrest and didn't. There was absolutely no need for this man to be shot.

I am sad there is no hell for this pig sack of feces to rot in for all eternity.

 

There have been plenty of non whites I have defended. But don’t let the judgemental part of you get in the way of that fact

 

Truth

 

I spoke when spoken to. I did exactly what I was told to do. My intent and purpose was to make their job as easy as possible. and to not cause any escalation. If I had been told to crawl with crossed legs that's what I would have done. If I had been told to assume the position on the hood of the patrol car that's exactly what I would have done. I gave the officers my full and undivided attention, respectfully.

 

Busybodies who call 911 always get people killed. They think it's funny.

 

People who wise-ass around with guns get people killed. People drunk with guns get people killed. People who play with guns get people killed.
