The thing I don't understand about this is why? Every candidate that has run for president knows there is the electoral college. Why would they not simply campaign based on that? Is it so wrong to appeal to people in those awful fly over States?
Our founders opted for a republic over direct democracy. Perhaps to avoid a mobocracy. The possible oppression by a majority I think the founders got it right in their extraordinary wisdom .
The Founders were bankers and slavers who wanted to lord it over everyone else but didn't trust monarchy. The US was founded as an oloarchich republic but was pushed into repersenative democracy by disgruntled WoI veterans threatening a coup and democratic reformers like Jefferson and Pine. The war wasn't fought for freedom, it was fought to avoid taxes and keep slaves.
The only unanswered question right now is will we have another economic collapse under this GOP president like we had under the last one????Who was also created by the electoral college and the MINORITY popular vote.
If that was the case they would be appointed by the state Government, not elected by the people to represent all the districts in the state.
You know Hillary also received a minority popular vote - right - In fact, -every- Clinton that ran for President received a minority popular vote.
