I can't imagine not being able to take Algebra 1 till 11th grade. That is insane. I was in second track and took pre-Algebra in 8th grade but 1/3 of my class took it in 8th. High achievers were taking Calc 2 by 12th grade, this change seems to make that not just extremely hard, but out right impossible. Best case scenario you will be about two semesters behind in any STEM major when you get to college.

I'm guessing AP courses are completely out of the question as well.

It's a product of LOW PAY. Schools take every qualified STEM teacher they can recruit.

How many schools will attract STEM grads with salaries little more than the minimum wage?
    Blame YOU for spreading misinformation.

You literally know nothing. Really. In my very red state, we spend a ton on our schools. We just don't kill them with the overhead that kills metro school districts. And we're building more schools now than ever before. And, our schools are top performers. We don't have a lot of teachers unions.... Perhaps that explains why our schools are working so well, and that our kids perform well nationally.

We started algebra in 5th grade. We had calculus in 10th grade.

It occurs to me that comparative cost of living, or need to incentives teachers to compete never entered your mind... did it?

They have no chance of being elected because nobody will vote for them...nobody will vote for them because they have no chance of being elected...rinse and repeat next election all the while choosing the lesser of two evils, which by the very phrases is still evil.

When the two choice that can win an election are like choosing between gonorrhea or syphilis, does it really matter which one wins?

The duopoly will do all they can to keep another party from disrupting their monopoply...and you help them each election.

So yeah, there was little chance Jo would win this election, but at least I did not feel like I needed a shower after voting for her.

I taught high school students and adults for three decades and advised the school district on their budget. You?
    Texas schools suck.

K-12 IMPLOSION UPDATE: Virginia Moving to Eliminate All Accelerated Math Classes Before 11th Grade as Part of Equity-Focused Plan.
They even have the parents too intimidated to speak on the record. Probably fears a mob at their door and a crowd contacting the parents employer demanding their termination.

To these folks “Equity” means “ruining everything but pretending it’s for fairness.”

I haven't read the whole thread, but this doesn't make sense. This will lower the top performers and make them less likely to be able to attend a top University if that is their choice. Students will need to find alternate advance math courses on their own in order to compete at the top Universities. Does nothing for equity, it actually puts them at a disadvantage... This is just like giving out trophies to everyone who participates.

I really hope this is not true.

    It's actually worse.

Time for an election that sends a message to our increasingly insane out of control party in power.

Yes but the minorities won’t feel nearly as bad that those racist privileged whities aren’t getting ahead of them. So there’s that.

And why would anyone other than a Woke Moonbat want to throw more money at schools that are wasting valuable time, resources and taxpayer money indoctrinating kids with Critical Race Theory instead of teaching them language, math and science skills?

There's the problem, LM. Everybody wants their schools to be adequately funded, but when they see that crap being taught in schools and students performing poorly in English, math and science they're not going to want to throw more money at those schools.

It sucks. I got a great education in Northern Virginia's public schools and if I had small children today I don't know that I would want to send them to those schools now, and after hearing that our DOE in Virginia is going to be indoctrinating kids in Critical Race Theory I can't support giving them more funding so they can fill schoolchildren's impressionable young heads full of racism and hate and cripple them socially.

I can't speak to the educators in other states, but the ones in our fair Commonwealth have got their priorities in the wrong places, and it's the kids who are going to wind up getting hurt because of it.

The entire idea is to make blacks feel better about themselves. If the smartest Asian and white students get leveled off blacks will not look as bad by comparison.

We have idiots even trying to argue that math is racist so at least they have not dropped it altogether.

I’ve been trying to tell y’all for years this is a war against white people, their culture, their history and their future. And it’s only going to get worse the longer they’re allowed to do it.

That be the case, those who vote for the alternative party should be equally disgusted with both candidates and either one who won the presidency. Does not happen this way, as most who claim NOT to be a Democrat and who claim to have voted for the alternative candidates tend to side with Democrats.

I would like more specifics but it seems pretty clear that this is being purposely manipulated by Fox to appear as something it is not.

It is also an attack on Asians. Maybe more so. Damn Asians show off with their high SAT scores and success!

It really is true and it does make perfect sense. It makes non-achievers feel better about themselves.
