OK no more food for you in this thread. I bet OP appreciates your trolling bumps though, gets the word out on how moronic the objections to picture ID for voters are.

Well we know they are a tiny tiny tiny percentage of all votes. A problem that only exists in paranoid delusions.

Well the OP is half right. it WOULD make perfect sense to use voter ID laws to combat voter fraud, if in person fraud was a big deal . It's not.

From 2004 to 2016, there were literally 82 to 90 cases of in person fraud. Most voter fraud is done though absentee voting, which voter ID laws have no effect on.

Also, there is the fact that in many republican states, the government intentionally undermined the ability of minorities who don't have ID cards to get them. In Texas, the government closed all state license branches in heavily minorities areas of the state. In fact there were less than 8 branches in the whole state. All of them were located in heavily white, upper-middle class areas. They also added fees to the costs of getting a ID card, making it cost as much as 75 to 100 dollars. For people living paycheck to paycheck, and who do not need an ID card since they have other identification, this would be choosing between getting a card to vote or feeding their families.

Hundreds of convictions since 1999. That's an insignificant number. I didn't take the time to go through all of that document. It seems purposefully organized so it would take an hour to go through. Why not list the number of cases per year per state so we can really see what the problem is. Most of the ones I did read seemed to be absentee voter fraud and duplicate voting. Having an ID won't solve that problem.

I'll ask again: How do those people who can't get voter ID cards get any medical treatment?

An id is not required in the ER. You think they turn you away if you don't have id?

No, you are correct. An ID is not required in the ER. But we suffer through Obamacare so all of those uninsured people could get normal medical coverage. Every other medical provider requires a government issued photo ID and an insurance card (if they have insurance) and a birth date the second you walk in the door. I guess this means all those people we got on insurance rolls still have to go to the ER for treatment.
Or, how about this? Pass a law that medical providers cannot discriminate by asking for an ID! That would work, and have an added benefit of enhancing the soft tyranny that is the direction of our government. Then after we straighten out the medical profession we could fix government buildings, airlines, beer sellers, banks and mortgage lenders, etc, etc, etc.

Many states did not expand medicaid and thus many people still do not have coverage

Of course that would mean the registered voters outnumber the voters, not vice versa. Better go think something else up.

No, it said there were more voters than registrations.

No it did not. More registered voters than people

A public interest law firm is threatening to bring lawsuits against more than 100 counties across the United States that appear to have more registered voters than living residents

If people die, or move, there should be less votes than those registered, not more. Not so easy huh?

I concede to your reading skills on this one, I was reading it wrong. Now, this also goes back to why the framers, like Ben Franklin, only wanted land owners to be able to vote since we live in a republic. How can you vote for a representative if you aren't positive that you will even be there longer than a month? Granted, the transient workers were more common back then as to now, but you shouldn't be able to register and vote for a place that you don't even have a steak in.

You also missed a few other reasons why there could be a bloated registry, fraud. Getting people same day voter cards as they move from one area to the next voting on the same day. Purges of registries by the state which are blocked by democrats time and time again.

Yes, correct. I misread it as more voters than registrations when it is really more (potential) voters than population. Similar problem, though not the same.

I know of no democrats that are against purging registries. What possible reason would they be against this?

And then people would claim that requirement was racist and burdensome no matter how easy you make it to get ID. This isn't about the ID's--it is about having the issue to polarize people.
