    No they didn't.

Dr. Mass made such a good presentation, that he is being called a denier by a lot of people but doesn't address his presentation at all.

Now he is being more supported by climate realists and he is learning how badly warmist/alarmist behaves.

The whole planet has warmed 2 degrees Fahrenheit on average. That is going to at the very least make heat waves a bit hotter.

It is clear you didn't read Dr. Mass blog post, he makes a science based report that it was a regional weather event composed of three weather factors that met in the Northwest.

He and a few other weather forecaster's predicted it days before it happened, which is was based on standard weather modeling that is done every day in the field of Meteorology.

You have posted ZERO evidence of climate change causing it, your opinion doesn't make sense at all.

If the planet warms by a couple degrees, don't you think that will make regional weather events hotter than they otherwise would have been?

Still nothing of substance from you, go read what Dr. Mass talked about.

    The rains have come.
Big Winds, Heavy Rain, and Now Thunderstorms

Nearly 100,000 Washington State power customers lost power last night as strong winds first hit Northwest Washington and then spread across the remainder of the western interior as a powerful front crossed the region during the late evening. . . . .

There is perception and there is reality.
Are Northwest Summers Getting Drier? The Truth May Surprise You.

We have had a dry spring and summer and people are concerned. Completely understandable.

And people's discomfort and fears have been unnecessarily worsened by the incessant drumbeat in the media and some politicians that Northwest summers are been getting drier. And they are not shy about suggesting the cause: climate change or what was previously known as human-caused global warming.

But is this really true? Do observations REALLY show that our region is getting progressively drier over the past decades and century?

The facts are clear: there is no long-term trend towards drier summers in the Northwest. And the effects of climate change (global warming) will be very small, with some locations receiving more summer precipitation. But as in real life, there are details and nuances that are generally not provided in the media.....let me provide them to you here. . . .

I live in Eastern Washington for the 45 of last 47 years, the other two was in Redmond in Western Washington.

Yes it is drier than usual this year but since it is ALWAYS very dry in the May to September time frame anyway with just about 7.5" of precipitation average yearly.

The climate in my area is essentially unchanged for many decades which means there hasn't been much change over all.

Western North American extreme heat virtually impossible without human-caused climate change

Looking out your window is NOT science.

The western heat wave was caused by THREE separate natural weather events that came together in the Northwest.

I posted a series of articles from Dr. Mass a licensed Meteorologist who lives in Washington state along with a few fellow weather forecasters predicted it days BEFORE it happened and subsequent articles showing it evolving all based on real weather events seen many times in the past.

    Dr. Mass - lol.

Meteorology and climatology are NOT the same thing.

    LOL

It is clear you have nothing substantive to contribute but fallacies and empty retorts.

Dr. Mass is a Professor for the University of Washington and is a long known warmist.

I notice you COMPLETELY ignored the FACT that he and a few of his friends PREDICTED this very hot event days before it arrived as licensed Meteorologists they saw it coming as THREE separate Weather events joined in the Northwest to create the heatwave, all three weather events were natural and have happened many times in the past, what was unusual was they combined together to make the heatwave in a specific region.

He covered in his weather/climate blog for days as it unfolded.

You show no interest at all in this which is why you remain ignorant of what happened that week.

    Yes. That's what meteorologists do.

But, the issue is climatology. Climatology can't be ignored, as that is the substrate for meteorology.

There is no doubt that there was a confluence of meteorological phenomena. And, that is ALWAYS the way it is going to look when one takes a superficial look.

But, that in itself is not a justification for deciding that climate doesn't make any difference in meteorology.

Meteorological events that occur when the Earth is at a different general climate regime are JUST AS PREDICTABLE as they have been in the past when considering 5 day forcasts.

Climate change isn't a stealth program.

    Meteorological forecasting still applies.

As a long time resident of Seattle I'm VERY aware of Dr. Mass. And, while it is true that there do exist meteorologists who are denialists, no actual scientist would or should be using prior opinion to screw up their science. And, I've never suggested that's what is going on here.

You'll find he's authored quite a few papers in the area of climatology.

    Bla... bla... bla....... Zzzzz.....

It is clear you have ZERO interest in what caused that heatwave since you ignored it every time I bring it up.

    One more time:

It was Dr. Mass through his blog presented days in advance of THREE separate weather events coming into the region that created the conditions for the heat wave, ALL of them separately have happened in the past but this one was very unusual as this time it was a combination that made this happen.

He thought it was going to reach 115-120 in many areas he was correct which shows his competence as a Meteorologist which YOU seem to be downplaying..... your ignorance is hurting you.

Too bad your prejudice is getting in your away and keeping you from learning the cause of the heatwave as it was well covered by Dr. Mass in his blog postings as he tracked the regional heatwave in real time.

You keep calling people denialists, but you still haven't explain this smear yet.

You keep forgetting that Mass is and EXPERT in meteorology.

There is nothing about climate change that precludes meteorology.

The issue being discussed is climate change, NOT METEOROLOGY.

Climate change does not now and NEVER WILL preclude meteorological projections of weather, such as Mass is eminently qualified to do.

You are now just babbling a lot and looking foolish in the process.

    Here is what Meteorology is:

    and,

    =====

Here is Dr. Mass Background you are so dismissive about:

    and,

    LINK

    =====

LOL, it is clear you don't understand what Meteorology is as it is clearly a study of the air and water involvement in weather generating process in which they MODEL every freaking several times day throughout the year.

Consider Dr. Christopher Landsea with his PHD in Atmosphere Sciences (LINK) has a long list of research on tropical Climate and weather over time, here is a List of published papers from 1989 to this year as a Research Meteorologist and had worked for NOAA until 2005.

    LINK

You need to slow down with your irrational dismissive attacks on the field of Meteorology.

Meanwhile the rest of America has been getting INCREASING precipitation since 1970, which is 3/4 of the country.

I posted the hard evidence from the NOAA in a POST (LINK) from June 15 which he ignored and ran away.

    =====

I bet you didn't know this at all.

I already pointed out the difference between meteorology and climatology.

As for the rest, you definitely can find those who disagree on various topics.

A common source of disagreement has to do with the causes of particular weather phenomena - hurricanes, severe hot/dry periods, etc.

AGAIN: Climate change does NOT screw up meteorology. Climate change does not sneak up on meteorologists, thus screwing up their weather reporting. They totally retain their ability to forecast the arrival of weather.

What climate change DOES do is increase the likelihood of unusual phenomena and modify averages - such as average heat or rainfall or sea level, etc.

Yes, I absolutely DID know that.

The question is what the heck is your point?

Did you think that climate change changes all regions in the same way?

Are YOU aware that there are areas of Earth that are cooling due to climate change? Were you unaware that the issue is one of averages?
