Wasn't it Reagan that said "are you better off today than you were 4 years ago?"

When you had RINOS in power, they just let the libs say anything they wanted. You just don't seem to approve of those that fight back.

Was that before or after he raped his slaves and sired children with at least one? Who by the way he never freed during his lifetime.

IOW, you know that Jefferson, like all slave holders, knew that his slaves were human beings.

What part of me saying slavery was egregious and the constitution should have been amended did you not understand?

So what’s to stop them from doing the same with firearms claiming it was a necessary evil to gain independence. Then they claim they must end it because we no longer need it and since it’s evil it has to go?

You’ve already accepted and fully supported the precedence which gives the state and federal government that authority.

If he did, then why did he rape them and keep them as slaves instead of freeing them?

Slaves have always been human beings, slave holders and rapists have always known that their victims were human beings. IOW, slavery, like rape, is evil.
No one should mourn the destruction of slavery and the slave states. Every human being should celebrate those who stop slavery and rape.
It would have been better if slavery has been abolished through the amendment of the COTUS. The slave states should have have been at the vanguard of the movement to do just that. Instead they chose war.
    Big mistake.

Again, slavery was not the problem. Slavery was easily resolved by signing the Corwin amendment. The problem was the north’s unwillingness to follow the constitution.

And yet you keep saying they chose war.

If the north hadn’t violated the constitution would war have come?
If the north didn’t ignore the SCOTUS would war have come?
If the north had allowed peaceful secession, would war have come?

The north was violate of the very principle of following the constitution that this country was founded upon. They then attempted to force subjugation to that action through violent oppression and you claim the south chose war.

    Your position is absurd.

The right to bear arms is a fundamental human right. There is no right to own slaves.
The institution of slavery is an artifact of government - law.

Your position is absurd. If the south new slavery would be ended it, then why did they want to propagate it by spreading it to new territories? That is what climaxed the whole thing. Sure you had those in the North with different ideas about slavery but you ALWAYS had those that pushed for all to be free. The South chose War.....Ever here of Fort Sumter? They had it coming and it's over.

Is it your position that owning slaves is a natural human right?

The South could have stopped the executive branch in its tracks indefinitely.
The Southern states chose war over using the political power the COTUS granted them.
Again one of the most tragic miscalculations in human history.

It’s my position that our rights are only as good as the document which binds them. If the document can simply be violated whenever someone feels as though part of it is immoral then the document has no authority.

And it’s not that I feel as though slavery is a human right (though there are many in history who would argue that it was )but my point was that there are many, in fact most, on the left who would argue vehemently against the idea that owning a firearm is a human right. They would declare it evil and immoral. According to your position they should have the right to violate that portion of the constitution based upon the precedent which you already support.

No they couldn’t because the unconstitutional actions of the north had skewed the vote in their favor. The southern states would have just lost power in Congress through attrition. So again, either concede the constitution is null and void or fight.

Fighting back is fine. It's delusional try-hard statements, like a lot of lauding that goes on regarding Trump, that look like trolling.

The idea that Lincoln was going to do away with slavery was garbage propaganda. Fear-mongered ignorant southern conservatives again...

Maybe you are godless....I don't know. But if all men are created equal then each has intrinsic rights and no one can be held subservient to another. Just good common sense would tell you that.

Obviously that is a subjective opinion that you could just keep to yourself. It doesn't make you appear wise in any sense.

    The whole damn point.

Your southern states, didn't think people were people. Unless they were white, male, and land owners.
And went to war for the right to OWN BLACK PEOPLE. Because as you just admitted, They Didn't Think They Were People.

And you're in here talking about revisionist Bull CRAP. And you just admitted a whole group of people were not considered by you southerners. And I'm being antogonistic in pointing it out.

    Spare us all the BS.

Eventhough I voted for Reagan and served in the army during his presidency can you remind me of the great things he did?
