There is a new phenomena known as as*hole flight, It is why people are fleeing California like it is on fire.
There are pluses and minuses, I'll admit. I miss the taco wagons that would park in a vacant lot and you'd have to order in spanish, or you're not going to get your food. I miss the black grandmother I lived next to who would talk more smack about blacks than I ever could. She had the respect of everybody on that block because she preached the truth. I miss the block parties we had, and the cute mexican girls that I'd try to chat up, but they'd just smile and keep walking because they'd get a beat down if they stopped to chat with anybody that wasn't mexican. I miss sitting on my front porch watching the neighborhood in all its diverse glory on a warm saturday afternoon. I don't miss walking into my apartment and finding an empty space where my TV used to be. I don't miss hearing a commotion outside and seeing a bunch of guys trying to kill each other in the middle of the street. I don't miss coming home on the bus and seeing that the only seat left is in the back with the thugs. I don't miss having to chase a guy off my block with a baseball bat (earned me the nickname Jose Canseco) because he was crazy, and was knocking on doors and punching people in the face when they answered. It's boring now, but boring isn't so bad when you're older. I like to call it relaxing.
That's got to be the most annoying thing about Oregon. Cali drivers are (*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*) drivers, Oregon drivers appear to be stupid drivers. At least where I live this seems to be the comparison as a Cali native.
I really miss the food in Southern Cali, can't get decent Mexican food where I live now. I also miss this place called The Bayou, fantastic Louisiana style comfort food, from the blackest of black people in all South Cali. And the readily available Chinese and Japanese and Korean food. But, like you I wasn't a fan of my neighbors across the street having multiple shoot outs with police, having some little kid point a gun at me and my friends from the back of a car. And a multitude of other unsavory things.
Where I live we have AZonies, who drive 55 in the fast lane with their left blinker on, but I will take that all day long instead of the idiot natives trying to do 90 during rush hour cutting you off and then slamming on their brakes because they are too stupid to realize the rest of the traffic jam is only doing 65. They are willing to risk everyone else's lives because they have time management issues. They are the same idiots who will cut in front of you in line at a store and act like they don't see you, and then act like you are the ass for calling them on it.
Of course there were whites there, the Egyptians ruled it as a colony from the 16th C BC. Did they have a written language? No. And that is my point.
That reminds me of when my friend was pulled over and I was in the car, the officer was asking for his license then this guy speeds past us behind the officer and he says "never mind I gotta go." We both laughed at the guy's timing.
Which is why I specified sub Saharan Africa in the first place. The sad fact of the matter is that Black Africans were ignorant of the art of writing until the Europeans taught them (with the exception of Ethiopians, who learned it from Semitic people.
Educate yourself...if that's possible http://observationdeck.kinja.com/5-awesome-african-civilizations-that-arent-egypt-1688047907
And your article just confirms my observation that there was no written language among the sub Saharan Africans except for Ethiopia. And I do not consider any society without a written language to be civilized. The reason that sub Saharan history is neglected (as your article claims) is that there is none. It was never written down.
doe I am familiar with that article. It does not refute my point. Surely you could find a more scholarly source than the Atlanta Black Star.
No, I also have the facts. Civilizations have written languages, they have literature. That is what makes a civilization. Black Africans had neither until Europeans taught them how to write. If you have to believe nonsense to avoid being called racist, well, it is just not worth it.
It's quite surreal to read this. In my country, the inner cities are strictly the preserve of the rich and the educated. Our lowest socio-economic orders are in the suburbs and country towns.
Pycckia, I have a question for you. Please use your critical thinking skills OK? If Blacks were the FIRST humans and Whites came after Blacks, who taught the Whites how to write?
The Blacks may have been there first, but it took White men to teach them. And as for the first Egyptians being Black, just more Afrocentric fairy tales.
They figured it out for themselves, of course. Same with the Chinese, the Indians and the Amerindians. At some point in time, no humans could write. Then some humans figured out to do it. None of those humans were Black, as it turns out.
Pheeeeeeeew!!! Talk about ignorant rants. By is one not only takes the cake but the icing and the candles - - - Updated - - - Egypt. Mali. Zimbabwe Ethiopia
Fact free nonsense. I won't believe lies just to avoid such ignorant rants.[/quote] Egypt is not subsaharan, Ethiopians speak a semitic language and learned their writing from semites, Mali and Zimbabwe didn't have written languages.
I'm a republican, and one of my core beliefs is that exceptionalism deserves to be rewarded. Profiting from ones talent, and work ethic shouldn't be criticised, it should be praised. Doctors, and lawyers commit themselves to college for almost a decade before going into practice. Tuition, and student loan debt can be staggering. Perhaps emulating Jewish perserverance is more productive than criticising their success.
