The right knows they have no sound arguments so they are forced to resort to personal attacks, fantasies, dire predictions, and generalities that are irrational and illogical.

 

This is a fairly typical right-wing narrative of how the left looks at gun ownership. Too bad it is completely false. I am a left-leaning Californian, you know, that Stalinist state. I go shooting a couple of times a month, usually with like minded friends, many of whom are much further to the left than I. As long as you demonstrate your responsibility with firearms, no one but the most rabid left wingers care about my gun ownership.

The state doesn't have the right to make murder legal. Just like they don't have the right to disarm their citizens. If they did the collective would have already ban guns in several States.

Banning guns in general would be tantamount to getting more people and law enforcement officers killed than would ever be saved by not banning all guns.

That said, I see nothing wrong with coming up with some restrictions on gun accessories and the purchase of weapons in the future. There is going to come a day that hand held weapons will be developed that are so destructive that it just won't be practical to let it go on the open market. Like shoulder mounted rocket launchers, we need to have the ability to legally draw the line somewhere. There is a hell of a lot of middle ground that both Republicans and Democrats occupy on this issue, and there certainly isn't a majority of Democrats who want to ban all guns - nor is there a majority of Republicans who want all guns available to all people.

But banning guns altogether? Hell, that horse left the barn long ago.

 

You want us to believe "a good guy with a gun will stop a bad guy with a gun" and so it makes sense to allow guns in bars and schools. Yet gun advocates held a rally recently and the announcement said guns would not be allowed at the rally, and when asked why, the answer was that there was a concern for "safety".

 

Some weapons should be restricted? Why? They're too scary looking for you? Give me a reason why AR15 should be banned? Be specific.

 

WOW! Looks like they are ALL on that list!! Are any approved handguns semi-automatic? Can any accept extended and removable magazines??

 

Arming ourselves is a constitutional right.

But the problem does exist. Here in Los Angeles, no conceal carry permits are issued and open carry is against the law. Only cops, politicians, and criminals carry guns. Would you consider that an infringement?

 

Then goes and creates Operation Choke Point and Fast and Furious in secrecy.
