Sure they can. They will just suffer political destruction if they admit they are atheist because Americans are bat(*)(*)(*)(*) crazy about electing people who claim to be Christians.

The American People don't really care if the people they elect are actually Christians. The only thing that matters is that they claim to be Christians, regardless of whether or not it's true.

 

That was I meaning with that they can't admit that they are not christians. If they want to govern they must lie on that.

At least the buddhists take it seriously, they have monks who give up their lifes to practise kung fu and prayer.

But when was the last time saw a 'christian' with a fuffy beard and wearing sandels.

I suspect that the disagreement is mainly about terminology. I make a distinction between ideas and ideology. I use "ideology" to mean a particular way of thinking about ideas, of putting them together. It's the notion that you can put together a system of ideas that encapsulates some fundamental truth. It's putting deductive reasoning (reaching conclusions about specific instances from general principles) above inductive reasoning (reaching conclusions about general principles from specific instances.) It's seeing the system of ideas as being fundamental, instead of derived.

Ideology can come in a range of strengths. It can be explicit and consciously embraced - "We have the Truth, all other ideas are lies and tricks." But it can also operate on a subconscious level, where one forgets their own fallibility and unintentionally lets their thinking drift from ideas into ideology. Ideology can be based on any set of ideas, from religious to economic to social to political to environmental to cults worshiping UFO's.

I don't like using the term "ideologues" because in my view the problem is with the behaviors, not the people. Actions are good or evil, not people. Also because at least to me the term implies a movement with one or several particular leaders. Leaders are not necessary for ideological thinking.

And thank the gods for that - the last thing the world needs is a "real" christian with nuclear launch codes. (Shudders)

It'd be better to have an openly non-christian President, but that's not going to happen for a while yet. Sadly, the US still has a ways to go on things like that.

Lying - Obama is pretty honest, for a politician. Admittedly, that ain't saying much. He's still better then pretty much any other recent politician I can think of.

High Yella - I honestly have no idea what you mean by this.

Bisexual - as far as I know, the President is straight. And if he's not, well that's his business. I happen to be bisexual - you got a problem with that?

Maoist - Mao Zedong was the leader of China's communist revolution, and ruled the country from 1949 - 1976. His reign is largely remembered for such disastrous programs as the Cultural Revolution and the Great Leap Forward. His philosophy is mainly associated with the concept of the People's War - the idea of revolution through the support of the population and guerrilla warfare. What in the world does any of that have to do with Obama?

Christian poser - Like I said, it's the best we can expect for the time being, and is a heck of a lot better then a "real" christian. Crazy monotheists have a long history of leaving death and destruction in their wake.

The great divide in the world today is between the decadents and the jihadists.

On one side are the Trotskyites, the Randians, the twirling gay activists, the atheist fundamentalists, the abortion industry, the Zionists, and the European anti-immigrant extremists. This side has lots of money and much of the media so they have the power of lies.


On the other side are the patriarchs, the various brands of Islamic radicals - the Taliban, Hamas, etc. This side has the numbers - they produce plenty of children.


Conflict between the two groups stretches from Afghanistan to Israel to Libya to France to the Netherlands.

The average American has no reason to favor either side. Christians have no reason to take sides either. Christians should only promote peace.
