    So conservatives who have paid into SS all their lives, by force of law, should turn down the SS benefits?

    Could be because they disagree with your opinion that someone else owning something makes them poorer. Could be because they recognize private property can be rightly owned without being earned. Personally, I don't feel your children must earn the breakfast you make for them before they can be allowed to eat it and I don't begrudge you what you own, whether it was a gift, a result of labor or because you bet on the stock market.

    *shrug* Some folks respect the concept of private property, some don't.
