That not true. In 2012 Obama and Romney each won 25 States. Obama got 4,982,291 more popular votes than Romney. His States gave him 332 electoral college votes compared to Romney's 206, although they won equal number of States.

In 2016 Hillary got 1,322,095 more popular votes than Trump but she only won 20 States to Trump's 30 States. She ended up with 232 electoral college votes compared to Trump's 306 electoral college votes.

Comparing the 2012 and 2016 elections show Hillary underperformed Obama by 3,392,669 votes and 5 States.

Trump outperformed Romney by only 267,527 total votes but translated them into 5 mores States for a total of 30. That gave him 100 more electoral college votes for at total of 306 compared to Hillary's 232.

So, looking at the maps = http://elections.nbcnews.com/ns/politics/2012/all/president/#.WQh_LRRlljS ; http://www.politico.com/2016-election/results/map/president = you can see that didn't focus on the States where she was the weakest. Trump did and he won.

National polls are meaningless in Presidential elections. You have to focus on certain regional areas within the States. Run your cursor over each State to see the margins. It's pretty much a waste of time and money to campaign in certain States because the margins are so great. But it's possible to turn the tide in States where the margins are historically slimmer. A couple hundred thousand votes are easier to get than a million new ones in a deep Blue or deep Red State.

and how does that discredit any of my claims? we were discussing black voter turn out not over all turn out
and if you want to talk about over all turn out the figures aren't reliable because they don't take into account how many democrats that voted for Obama the last two times abandoned the democrat party and voted for Trump
So democrat turn out actually might not have dropped but just happens this time they didn't vote for the democrat candidate

Facts? Hmmmm. How do you feel about your boy groping women, stiffing contractors of pay he hired, starting a "FAKE" university to line his pockets and filing multiple bankruptcies? There's your facts, pal. You got a real winner of a president.

Agreed. She ran on nothing other than she has a vagina and it's her turn, couldn't be bothered to campaign in fly over country and people were fed up with all the Clinton scandals.

less democrats voted then the previous two elections, but you are correct, more voters voted for Clinton then Trump, Trump won from affirmative action known as the electoral college

I've been pointing out the same thing. Thanks to "progressive" misrule Republicans are on the cusp of unprecedented power:

Republican success opens door to amending U.S. Constitution
    http://my.chicagotribune.com/#section/-1/article/p2p-92051404/

Hillary Clinton's defeat is part of a larger trend that should really worry Democrats. The funny part is that many Democrats are completely ignoring that trend and subscribing to the notion that doubling-down on the "progressivism" that got them where they are today will magically produce different results.

You must have missed how large numbers of working class people who voted for obama in the past voted for Trump over HRC. It wasn't only the "right wing" who voted for him.

Should I go into how many women Clinton cheated with before he was president? Should I mention the Lewinsky scandal WHILE he was IN office? The president isn't supposed to be or going to be a choir boy, he is someone people vote for to get things done.

It was admittedly suspicious that the other Republican candidates caved so easily.

lol. Everyone was screaming at them to run Paul instead of Romney, because that would bring independents and the die hards will always vote party lines. But they knew better, ran Romney and got smashed.

The catch, they had to rig their primaries to make it happen, and were in court for it as the next primaries rolled through. Hence, why they couldn't rig it for Trump, and in all their wisdom, knew for sure Hillary would win in a landslide.

Moral of the story: our world is under the control of billionaire idiots and their 50 rungs of millionaire yes men. They haven't a clue what a pulse even looks like, much less have their finger on it.

Both parties are so dumb, they think because independents are always shown between the other 2 on charts, that it translates to independents being centrists. Nope. Independents are the people who want genuine change. "College educated". What a joke.

The 2 platforms of the parties are nothing more than both halves of the baby boomers wants/needs, and if people haven't noticed, there's a **** ton of us who aren't boomers and have zero representation.

Hey did you get that line from New York Magazine? I saw that in an article today, although the full quote was, "...affirmative action for white people, aka the electoral college."

I thought that was pretty funny!

The funniest thing would be if they actually got rid of the electoral college and made it so the red areas of blue states now counted, and the 35 states filled with no blue sections, with people staying home because it is 100% red, finally have everyone show up.

The left would never win another presidential election again. By double digit millions.

They're so full of themselves, and short sighted, they don't even realize it.

had not seen it, but glad to see others see it the same way as I did, though I do not see it as for white people, just Presidential candidates

So run Hillary again and watch what happens.

Trump could hump her leg in the debate. We would all laugh and vote for him twice.

Trump said he grabs that... and still won... sad

sounds like people were also fed up with classic republicans if they elected Trump, Trump is the new face of republican values

not a chance, people will get out and vote next time in record numbers

I would not be surprised to see Trump not even run, saying he could win, but he doesn't want to run again

The Third Party candidates siphoned off some of Hillary's votes. But even if she had won Wisconsin and Michigan she would have lost. Pennsylvania was a must win and she would have won with Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania.

Gary Johnson and Jill Stein got too many of her potential votes.

Hillary lost Wisconsin by 27,257 votes.

She lost Michigan by 11,612 votes.

And she lost Pennsylvania by 68,236 votes.
    http://www.politico.com/2016-election/results/map/president

A candidate has to attract potential Third Party voters as well as his/her base voters.

Being President is too much work for Trump but he would win if he runs again, regardless of the Dem candidate. A Dem will win in 2024.

    I appreciate the perspective, thanks.

What is an "average Joe", who gets to decide this for all and by what authority? Am I an average Joe? If yes or no, why or why not?

Your predictions mean nothing. Did Republicans gerrymander in Democrat ran States like Maryland, and Illinois? You know the place that republicans won governorships?
Just stop with the excuses already.
