IF people are to solve problems, gain understanding, they must discus the problem honestly. When you seek ways to label people or things with insults and promote incivility, and it appears you are not capable of that. Discussion is not a contest; when you make it that you are arguing for "points", not understanding. You don't win even if you succeed- you only demonstrate your incapacity to reason. Unfortunately, you have a lot of company.

Nobody's ever right about everything, and that is not possible. But it's entirely possible to be wrong about everything. No trophy for that.

Well does a post-20 week fetus know anything? Has it felt anything? Will it ever exist mentally unless it undergoes the extraordinary transformation the mother's body facilitates?

 

20 weeks is to be safe. At about 21.5 weeks, the cortex starts to connect with the rest of the brain. The connection between the cortex and the thalamus and brain stem is responsible for consciousness. Before that no input can be received for pain, and no thought could occur. After this time consciousness is at least physically possible. EEG evidence of it detected has been detected at 28 weeks.

You do seek debate. I seek discussion. Debate is not a process where you are there to learn or be open- but you are there to win. It's a form of verbal battle you hope to win and feel superior. Also known as argument.

In a discussion, we are open to the opinions of others, and give reasonable views consideration; thus there is the chance opinions can be changed and participants will learn and grow.

I could debate, but that would mean I sacrifice my self-respect and standards for the momentary emotion of "superiority"- yet nothing is actually gained or changed.

You however, do not discuss, and I don't think you can... And unfortunately, don't know the difference between that and what you do.

 

It's not illegal if she can obtain mifepristone and misoprostol. You're okay with her sending for the drugs? Is it okay for her to have them in her possession?

 

If its returned to the States, it will be the whole State Congress which will decide.

 

Probably, I recall claims they learn to recognize their mother's voice in utero, useful as an indicator of being safe with less need to cry, but the point is a mind is possible after 20 weeks and that's enough to say abortion should be done before that.

I would say that there is no ethical dilemma there because there's no way to know for absolute certain that they will never recover.

They won't be illegal in many states unless, as I predict, anti-abortion types try to get abortion banned with a national law.
