dems blocked the Senates push to hold employers not liable for forcing worker to work in unsafe conditions

dems have a 3 trillion dollar bill that Republicans blocked

republicans are like it's safe, but just in case... let's make employers not liable

how about this, the government takes the liability instead, if it's really safe, won't cost a dime

    that wasn’t in the bill

they do have a massive bill that nails out leftwing states from their failed left wing policies. They refused to compromise and skip down

Corporations shouldnt pay tax as it's just a business. Money should only be taxed when it is taken out of the business as income, aka gains and dividends.

    yes it was

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/us-policy/2020/09/10/senate-coronavirus-economic-relief-bill/

"And it contained some conservative priorities that Democrats dismissed as unacceptable “poison pills,” including liability protections for businesses and a tax credit aimed at helping students attend private schools."

that is the main thing republicans want, give them that and there is no more deals as they will already have what they want

republicans could have removed those two things, and the bill would have passed, but they refused

public schools are free, private ones come out of your pocket

if Trump wants us to pay for his children's school, send them to public school

not sure what your talking about, Trump says a vaccine will be released by Nov 1st, why not just wait another 90 days?

Trump's child is not going in-person schooling yet, why should he want your children too?

is Trump playing it down again, good enough for your children, but not his?

First you need to define the 'problem'??

Today the numbers are so huge it's unfathomable to find any rational solutions. Because of the huge numbers, all solutions will require baby steps over years and decades to see improvement. I don't think the collective we will ever face debt and deficits, therefore, we'll continue down our same course until one day in the near future it will be payback time!!

So we'll continue getting money from the federal government with little to no concern to ever pay our way. About five years ago my little town of 12,000 population got $450K from the Feds to hire 1-2 police and/or fire personnel. I assume this is happening across the USA! As long a federal and state governments never pay their way, they have no incentive to create viable tax structures. And citizens don't care because they are self-serving...

    Well stated...

The key point remains the states must balance their budgets while the Feds just light up debt as long as no one cares. Today, and for the past few years, increasing debt has become SOP...no need to have national emergencies...we just spend recklessly because we have no accountability. I'll always equally blame the citizenry because they prefer debt over paying their way. Everyone likes higher taxes as long as it does not apply to them! The $64,000 question is what can be our maximum debt and what happens when we get there? Like climate change, by the time our asses are on fire it will be too late...

Isn't it true that no Americans are paying their fair share of taxes? Something like 100 million average Americans pay little to no taxes at all...is this fair? Why don't we focus on reducing spending...why must it alway be about raising taxes?

Generally speaking, all business expenses, including taxes paid, are passed along to the consumer in the price of goods and services. The total cost of doing business determines the consumer pricing, profitability, and viability...

Bullshit. Businesses by definition charge as much as they can in order to maximize sales.

    They can't arbitrarily increase prices

of course not, it didn’t have 60 votes.

the dems just block a vote, and nancy said no to 1.5 trillion bipartisnb bill never even got a vote

there is no reason to waste time on things that have no way to pass.

like when nancy P said no to the 1,5 trillion dollar bipartisan relief package without a vote
