    Honestly folks, we DO need the Fairness Doctrine (or something like it) back.

    If you're doing NEWS (facts), that is what it is.

    And commentary/opinion, CAN indeed be balanced... simply by allowing opposing parties equal time.

    In my view, that is far better than pushing multimillion dollar lies and distortions out into society. Those don't help us one single iota.

    I don't enjoy Fox as much as... well, anyone who doesn't enjoy Fox, but how this stupid thread got as far as it did is beyond me...

    The 'newspapers' the enquirer,globe and the largely defunct weekly world news are prime examples

    I'd rather drive a 40d nail through my forearm than watch FoxNews but people who talk about "banning" political speech or TV channels that they don't like need to slap the hell out of themselves and then write their parents and teachers nasty letters thanking them for failing miserably and producing yet another sniveling fascist to be unleashed onto the world.

    I have not watched fox in years.

    They pump out no more or less hate than does CNN, MSNBC,NBC,ABC,and CBS.

    I have no doubt that fox news has aired lies. So has all the other networks and media outlets. They have also occasionally aired the truth.

    The point is you are stating a falsehood when you claim they produce NOTHING but lies.

    If behaving as a commentator is cantagion then there is nothing to object to. Commentators do nothing more than commentate which is harmless and one of our basic human rights.

    The fairness doctrine was a clear violation of the first amendment long before Fox news even long before television.

    But your objections sound right at home in Goebbels office.

These unethical lies were deliberately, knowingly, and cynically to told to the nation by Obama at least 37 times WHILE ABC, CBS, NBC/MSNBC, CNN, The New York TImes, the Washington Post and The Huffington Post and the entire Democratic Party leadership cheered, clapped, and endorsed what they KNEW to be lies from the get-go. Ahem . . . cough!

    Sorry, I was just trying to swallow some standard leftwing hypocrisy there. I don't know why it kept getting caught in my throat. How DO leftwingers manage it so easily?

    No I mean the really good ones; the ones that never allow any hint of genuine reality to filter through. I know that they were mass issued in 2008 by the Obama endorsing DNC during the primaries between Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama . . . but the origin of them remains an enduring mystery. Perhaps they come from one of George Soros' off-shore operations -- you know . . . the ones that leftwingers never look at?
