That is not what he is expressing in his OP. He has convinced me that atheisim is a religion. It's even organized, like a cult to destroy any hint of taking away that seed that was planted. Unfortunately when someone comes here asking questions about religion (Christianity in particular), the atheists come out as if they are wishing they could plant their weeds before that seed has any roots. I seen it happen to a moderator here. Sad.

You are certainly on an agenda. So why shouldn't the rest of us. Sorry from the bold on your post is meaningless because you have an agenda.

What constitutes stupidity in your opinion? Religion or the person?

Atheism is not a religion and to say otherwise is to show ignorance of what both atheism and religion are.

No, silly, my goal is to make you see the consequences of what you wrote.

First you say that if you respond to "these posts" (meaning posts made by atheists, right?) then "they" (meaning atheists, right?) get to do "what they claims [sic] christians are doing. Controlling".

Last in your post you express your concern if the views of these atheists spread then your Christian children are in extreme danger from "them" at some point in the future.

Hence, either your goal is to get your Christian children into extreme danger (according to YOURSELF, not to me) by saying stuff so that "these atheists" can react OR your goal is not to get your Christian children into extreme danger (according to YOURSELF, not to me) by not saying stuff at all.

It's your all sayings. I've added nothing but the consequence of your 'reasoning'.

Sorry we just disagree. Christians don't go out to destroy what atheists do. We just defend our beliefs and are belittled for it. Maybe it's that we are so peculiar that atheists just can't figure us out. I believe the Word plainly states it.

I am not ignorant and this isn't my first rodeo. Atheism is a cult, much like organized religion. One group pushes their beliefs, the other denounces their beliefs. The latter being atheists. The percentage of atheists is rising in America.

Religion is a cult. atheism is a disregard for a deity, there is none. No god and simply that. it does not compare in any way to religion. Cults if you understand anything about them use the same techniques that are used in any religion to convince it's members to follow said god.

As an atheist I really don't care if you believe in god or if you follow twenty gods. All I ask is that your religious beliefs not infringe on me. i.e. most religions find being gay a problem. You can believe that if you like. Just don't try and make laws that prohibit me from being who I am. There are no laws prohibiting your belief. Why should there be laws prohibiting the natural course of my life.

That is where religion and atheism differ. I don't care if you believe in a god. Many religious people care that I do not and have an agenda to infringe their religious views on society and me personally.

The OP says that atheists have an agenda he states that as if he does not. His agenda is blatant. It is cult like and extreme.

I say you are wrong in thinking atheism is a religion. Christians attempt to enforce their views on others that is a blatant attempt to attack atheism. Conversion is a leading policy in churches. Spread the gospel message is the cry. How many atheists have knocked on your door to tell you why you should not believe in god. Not one I imagine.
Religion or faith is personal keep it that way and there is no dispute with an atheist. But religious people can't. Everyone that I know, knows I am an atheist yet the say I'll pray for you. That is offensive and pushing their religion on me. I do not tell them that I will not pray for them. It matters not to me.

So You are IMO wrong again about what atheists are about. I don't care about your religious works or your churches and temples. I really don't care what you believe just don't include me and press that belief on me.

nothing that i've said or that other christians have said here is inciteful. They have responded to your attacks. I sense a lot of anger in you and i have to wonder where that comes from.

You are still requiring that i shut my mouth while you espouse your hatred and contempt. You say that by opening my mouth i put my children in danger. You're right. I put them in danger from you and your kind. EVEN if there are first amendment rights that are afforded to all people in this country. Apparently you are among those liberal/atheists that wish to either scrap the Constitution or interpret according to what today's liberals want.

WHAT business is it of yours to show me the consequences of my beliefs or first amendment right of free speech. WHO are you to make that determination. And you are not even polite. Do you think you are so special that you can catch flies with vinegar?

Of course Christians go out and destroy what atheists do. What an ignorant thing to even suggest. Now THAT shows an agenda.

Atheism is not a cult. Atheism is not a religion. Atheism is the lack of belief in any gods.

And what does the percentage of atheists rising in America have to do with atheism being a cult or a religion? Nothing, that's what. Nothing at all.

Please tell me who are atheism's holy figures.
Please tell me what are atheism's holy books.
    etc etc etc

To make a thread declaring that all atheists will be ignored implies it.

Atheism is not a religion, no matter how much you want it to be. Atheism doesn't have anything to say about spirituality or supernatural things, except, "show me the proof." That's not a direction.

Further, as an atheist I hope that I do get my seed in before theists put their weed in, so that the person doesn't waste their life talking to themselves and praying to nothing, when they could be living a much more fulfilled life and genuinely helping people with their own two hands.

At the last Australian Federal Election a Christian Party said that secularism is against Christian freedom. I find that's what die hard Christians, and other die hard religious people, think. They think that your freedom to not be of their religion is a violation of their religious belief to force you to live as they want you to.

First of all, I don't ridicule gays or mothers who abort their unborn fetus. I don't feel like I am one who judges one's character, just their following. Atheists do go out of their way to do the things he expresses in the OP. That is the plain truth as far as he believes and I agree.

Yes, Christians (whom I am non denominational) are not an organized religion. I have always said there is no religion in heaven. Heaven is metaphoric to me. That's for another thread.

I will agree that he is being extreme expressing his observation of atheism to get his point across, nothing more. I think he is spot on.

I imagine many atheists would be much more laid back if, in the US at least, most Christians listened to Jesus and prayed to their Father in secret. Keep religion private and a lot of atheists, certainly I, don't say anything about it. Many of my coworkers are Christians, yet I've yet to talk about Christianity with any of them in my three years of work here because neither me nor them brings it up. Most of the people I interact with on a day to day basis are theists, yet, no one mentions a deity and so I don't talk with them either for or against religion. Similarly, as long as Christians don't try to interfere with school curricula, I don't say anything about what they teach their children in private.

But, that's the thing. As soon as a Christian enters a public arena, then that changes things. That very act creates a dialogue, which is a two-way street. If you wish to preach, then you must expect counter-preaching. If you worship YHWH as Yeshua instructed you to, I would not even bring it up with you. Yet, you insist on countermanding Yeshua's instructions and make a very public spectacle of your religion and try to argue its veracity. As such, you should full well expect that you will get into arguments about it. If you don't want to argue, then don't start.

    1.
a set of beliefs concerning the cause, nature, and purpose of the universe, especially when considered as the creation of a superhuman agency or agencies, usually involving devotional and ritual observances, and often containing a moral code governing the conduct of human affairs.
    2.
a specific fundamental set of beliefs and practices generally agreed upon by a number of persons or sects: the Christian religion; the Buddhist religion.
    3.
the body of persons adhering to a particular set of beliefs and practices: a world council of religions.

a : the state of a religious <a nun in her 20th year of religion> b (1) : the service and worship of God or the supernatural (2) : commitment or devotion to religious faith or observance
    2
: a personal set or institutionalized system of religious attitudes, beliefs, and practices
    3
archaic : scrupulous conformity : conscientiousness
    4
: a cause, principle, or system of beliefs held to with ardor and faith.

So, to make this clear, atheists do not have a set of beliefs, unless you want the definition to be applied to all non-beliefs, for example, you'd want to call everyone who doesn't believe in leprechauns a religion, and everyone who doesn't believe in unicorns a religion, and everyone who doesn't believe in gremlins a religion ... ad infinitum.

Do you believe that little fat creatures with 27 arms are pushing molecules together? No? Well I guess you're in a religion then, cause you "believe" that little fat creatures with 27 arms are not pushing molecules together.

Does it require faith for you to believe little fat creatures with 27 arms are not pushing molecules together? Are you in denial of the little fat creatures with 27 arms are pushing molecules together?

In other words, if atheism is a religion because an atheist doesn't believe in god, then everything is a religion. In fact, the list would be so long that the only way to identify people would be to ask them what religion they are NOT a part of, but since everything you don't believe in becomes a religion, that becomes an impossibility.

No, no, no. You are missing the point. He is talking about how atheists are destroying anything related to a belief in God. He is right. They have an agenda.

Do you know they even go into Churches and pull out new people and talk try to talk them out of seeking Him? That is one of so many things that is none of their business doing. They want to take down crosses, mangers, take prayers out of schools, take the words "In God We Trust" off of our currency, etc, etc, etc. It's organized and it is a cult. It is not just no belief in a diety. It is a means to denounce God and play the "Prove it" game and keep it private. I believe Christians are more tolerant and acceptance towards homosexuality and same sex marraige. Chrisianity is supposed to be a non denominational belief. It is only people who believe the same basic principles in the Bible.

Christians have given our own beliefs a bad name, me included in my growth in knowledge and wisdom of the spiritual realm.

What is your opinion on Christians who go to atheism conventions and try to convert people, because they do that, even though you claim that they don't.

If true, the assertion that there are significantly more crimes and divorces involving the nominally religious is impotent as a criticism of theism.

Dunno about that, but he sure as Hell wasn't a Christian.
Polytheism is Godless, and his regime wasn't founded on polytheism anyway.
Perhaps the distinction between questions and assertions escapes you.

I don't know who the hell you think you're kidding. People who lie about being oppressed can be depended on to lie about leaving people alone.

It is unfortunate that you will stereotype atheists that way. It is also unfortunate that you will try to cast those atheists who disagree with you as evil or irrational. These false accusations reflect more on your own faults than the faults of atheists.

I'm sure there may be a few zealots that do that. But the majority of Christians don't.

If you're so hatefiled about God, we don't want to be with you eternally. That would be hell.
