The second amendment clearly says that all Americans have the right to a brand new arm of this or any other type. You are trying to bring life back into the already gutted and dead second amendment. Madison wanted every American who could be part of the militia to own that, and stinger missiles to take down enemy planes as well. I am not advocating this, but the weapons that the average American has are not militia go to war tools.

Which is why our troops aren't still over there fighting a war in Afghanistan anymore. Nor one in Iraq. Because we kicked their asses so hard there entirely stopped being a problem with active terrorist groups holding territory in these two nations.
The past decade or so has all been a vacation for our troops... not a war.....

For those that didn't look it up, it's one of the biggest shoots in the US. A LOT of heavy weapons owned by private citizens. Artillery, miniguns, anti aircraft machine guns and artillery.

 

Just because you win the war doesn't mean your troops go home and all is well in the world.

Our troops stayed for decades in Germany, Japan, South Korea. And yes more than a few were killed during those periods.

Actually if you don't send your troops home, you haven't nationalized the territory you're occupying, and the enemy still holds territory, then you're still at war.
You're occupying enemy territory. That means you haven't won the war at all because if you had it'd be the friendly territory of a puppet government with CRIME rather than organized resistance which still holds territory of its own. If there are "taliban areas" or "AQ" or "isis" areas in a nation: War still on.

Germany: The nazi's held territory after we signed the treaty with them? Cite? O wait you're talking about the troops we left to keep the ruskies from eating ALL of europe. Not the same thing.

Japan: Same. I believe we had their unconditional surrender and organized resistance pretty well ceased at that point. We ****ed them so hard we STILL don't let them have a real military and they BEGGED us to please stop. They are now one of our most staunch allies. THAT'S winning the war.

Korea: You'd be interested to know we are still at war with Korea, hostilities were never called off, only postponed. We don't have a treaty, we have a ceasefire. Different ducks. We also still have the DMZ for a reason: Because we never won the war, the war isn't actually over. That's why when we mediate talks between south and north with the chinese, there are guards from either side in the room who do not remove their hands from their sidearms. Because they are at WAR and since we never called off SO ARE WE.
