I'm wondering why the windmills don't have on-board heaters. They literally make their own power so it has to just be a cost issue. The cost/benefit analyst just got his ass handed to him.

Biden is not and never has been "pro-abortion".

And the policies from the Democrats reduce more abortions than any phony "life news" BS who pass laws to ensure rapists, child molesters (including plenty of Catholic hypocrites), and general purpose hypocruts like Trump and his Republicans.

Yeah...ones snow falls on a solar panel, it's like game over. You can't remove it. You have to wait till fall, right, right?

As for your eggs in one basket: that would be going for full fossil fuel.
We all know the world will run out eventually. And one war in the ME where -behold- The US always plays a major roll in so far... is skyrocketing the prices.

    Snow happens.
Texas has already had a massive power outage this winter.
And all over the US they struggle in the heat to get things going.
No point to mock the Germans to have a fluke.

I emailed Senator Booker about blocking aid to TX since they blocked aid to us for Sandy.

Are ALL conservatives invested in Oil Company stocks up the Yingyang?

NOBODY is seriously advocating that we have nothing BUT solar/wind power etc,

There is still a place for fossil fuel, only THEY should be the backup, not the other way around

Seriously, do conservatives just LIKE polluting the air our kids breathe and tearing apart the environment we all live in or what? Are they the type of people who take the whole family out to appreciate the beauty of oil refineries and poisoned streams over the weekend? Do they tear down pleasant developments to make way for more slums?

Forget about freezing. More importantly, engineers have found that the projected 20-30 year lifetimes of windmills is a bit of a joke. Due to multiple points of deterioration around the blades and motors, the lifespan is more like 10-15, and possibly even less off-shore.

On one hand, it’s going to be a long time before this kind of technology can be reliable on its own. On the other hand, the technology will never reach that point if we don’t use it.

    No argument from me.
Take it up with the climate deniers that think it's a disaster.

I can make the sign of the Cross, genuflect with the best of 'em. Doesn't mean I am devout, or even religious.

Perception is something one can create by a few simple actions.

Since temperatures have an effect on air, wind, and barometric pressures which are a large of 'weather'....

No, it is not 'burring 'your' head in the sand.' Very simple, really. Look who is promoting it as being 'catastrophic', who is benefitting from the created crisis, and what impact the 'tax' has on the event. Every supposed prediction hasn't happened.

The science isn't 'settled', because that is a contradiction in terms.

Yeah, but climate change is a liberal myth and you can fix any problem with more oil, more coal and more money for big oil!

Maybe they just need a few diesel powered generators to put out heat and defrost the wind turbines and melt the snow on the panels?

    Now that’s a good point.

Ten years from now, the same people doing their flat earth thing on this thread will be remembering when they had to put up with power failures; and. how lucky they are to have a PowerWall and know that the Texas grid also has a network of battery farms, instead of having the depend on century old technology to generate enough power at any given time to keep your lights on.

It doesn’t looks as of either one of you is particularly well informed regarding energy technology or the electric power industry.

But you do have a full plate of the usual flat earth right wing anti progress memes!

I really don’t understand why you flat earthers keep this nonsense up.

Wall Street has already made the decision.

That was exactly the same whine that the coal barons and right wing politicians used when Elon Musk bet South Queensland that he would get his battery farm built in 100 days or it was free.

Since then, that battery farm has been expanded twice (to more than double its original capacity), and eclipsed by even larger battery farms.

Brownouts and blackouts disappeared. And the cost of electricity fell.

The investors got payback in three years (unheard of from a capital investment in electric power).

The world took notice, and there is now a torrent of investment capital flooding into battery storage and renewable energy.

Oh, and those diesel powered generators you referred to........

The Tesla plant tended all of them obsolete.

Sure thing bub, tell that to the people freezing in their homes in Texas right now. We just need more battery farms.

Did you forget that Biden's son, with his father's protection and pull, was in the oil business? And right now Biden is supporting the Taliban pipeline.

Well, this morning was 1F. It is the 3rd coldest temp ever, we broke the coldest day temp this morning by 19F (old record was 20). We have been under 32 now for 5 days in a row (also new record). And our high temps for the day yesterday was the coldest high temp ever for where we are. Oh, and the 8" of snow, also record for here for most in one day, as well as most total for the month of Feb. Four wheel drive helps, but it isn't magic, and of course, the 1/2" of ice under all the snow is still there to skate around on. We have ice covering our creek which, since 1852 or so has never frozen over. It sure seems historic to the folks keeping the records...

The more Biden takes away from the US oil industry, the more money he pumps into his family's coffers....

Global warming has brought us record cold this winter. Evidently, there isn't enough power, hence the rolling outages. Sucks when the wind blows, but you can't run your wind turbine because of icing... Oh and solar panel farms are covered in snow, so no output there. Thankfully, we have NG and coal plants still producing.

We were at -12 this morning. My main two heat sources are wood and propane. There are liberals who even think the wood burning is toxic and should be prohibited. Propane is necessary here and I'm using a little electricity to keep the pipes defrosted with heat tape.
