Once, my friend and I were driving at 61 mph on a 60 mph speed-limit road, and of course, it was the end of the month so cops HAVE to get so many people in trouble, because the idiotic State Authority's assumption is that if they get more people in trouble, they're necessarily doing a better job..as opposed to unjustly aggressing against us. He outright lied and said we were going 74 mph, when we were perhaps a mile or two per hour over the speed limit the whole time. No victims, yet apparently we caused a crime..and even worse, apparently, the state is allowed to LIE about what actions you even supposedly did, and/or significantly exaggerate them. He never drove no 74 mph at all, that was a crock of (*)(*)(*)(*). We passed no one else on the road surrounding us and were moving no faster, and they randomly chose us because they do seem to randomly choose victims so that the BIG POLICE STATE can STEAL more money for itself. Not only do we live in a "security over freedom" nation these days, but we live in a "state authority is always right, whether or not they LIE" nation these days. The more and more I think about it, the more terrified I am at Statism.
It's a sad fact but some police do lie. Fortunately they aren't representative of the vast majority of honest law enforcement officers.
Ok. So some people involved in the Tyranny Scheme are ill-meaning, but most (supposedly) aren't. That makes me feel FINE AND DANDY!!!
The police are dogs that must serve to their masters. And they will do whatever the masters say what they have to do. Interpret it as you want.
I'd interpret that as about the stupidest comment that I've heard in quite a while. Of course, you live in Finland.
Of course I live in reality. And have you ever listened the expression dogs of the state? For something that is done and said.
-Alexander Hamilton, in his letter of instruction to the commading officers of the Revenue Cutter Service Good instruction for our law enforcement officers at every level.
yeah, Good instruction to get themselves killed in the Line of Duty. Our society is so violent today, that police officers cannot afford the luxury of assuming you aren't a threat. Because when it comes down to it. If it means the difference between coming home after every shift, or getting shot and killed. A cop will gladly stomp on your sensitivities. Their job is not "customer service" or to protect the sensibilities of the "freemen". Their job is come home safe to their wife and kids every night. Cops are trained to be domineering (*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)s on purpose and to assume everyone is a threat until they are shown not to be. Because if they let their guard down, they could be killed at any moment. It's called "maintaining complete control of the situation". Make no mistake about it, when you are interacting with Police, it is the intention of the Cop and the State that the Cop be in charge.. not you.
Generally LE officers do not think that way and the ones who do are in the wrong line of work. No, they are not. They are trained to have a command presence. You can do this without being antagonistic. To some extent yes, but they're really quite good at interpreting behavioral cues. I think it's obvious when LE officers are being antagonistic because they're on a power trip.
Alright, first of all i believe that police officers are JUST fine. they are meant to protect the people, and for the most part they do. In their line of work they should have, as was said, a "command presence". First and fore-most their job is to protect, Not be your friend. Some officers DO lie, that is sad indeed, however most will pull you over, etc. to make sure everyone stays safe. Even If no one else was on the road the officer (provided they would have pulled you over and not have lied) would have been making sure no harm came to the passenger and driver for their speeding. Not to gain money for the state and or the police. If i were in charge, i would actually have more police. i hate that society has so many corrupt peoples. the police will always be hated for what they are and what they do (obviously taking away freedom) however they do protect the people.
MORE police? Why? I think they are doing a fine job as well, but a police state is not something beneficial.
I've gotten many tickets and you know what? I was innocent every time. Its the stupid cops pushing their rules on me man. Power to the People!!!!
Probably because the government has gotten to involved with our lives. There are so many laws that the government can't even keep track of them all anymore. No, we need more liberty again. And to give up security for liberty will provide us with neither.
Too involved with our lives? Not as far as I'm concerned. The government doesn't bother me and I have all of the liberty that I need with a feeling of security.
Really? Every time you get into your car you are legally obligated to wear a seatbelt. Because big brother says so. Why? Thats not a constitutional law.
you sir are an idiot. it was made a law to keep you safe. do you know what happ to dumb asses that dnt wear a seat belt? they go flying through the fricken window and die
"Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety." -Benjamin Framklin
Regarding the OP, if you really weren't going as fast as they said, you might do well taking it to court. No guarantees, but often you'll get out of even legitamate tickets that way, especially if you were reasonably polite so the cop doesn't want to take time out of his busy day to stick it to you. A little off topic, but this is where I get nervous about a lot of seemingly well meaning "support" type laws and programs. Once they're footing the bill, suddenly what used to be your business alone suddenly becomes everybody elses business as well, and they're going to pass some extra laws that get into your personal life.
This seems your own fault. You know the usa road laws with speed limits and you drove carelessly and the police done their job. Now if this was done on a autobahn, it would be differrent story.
