Got a source to back up that 50%?

    last statistic I found was 70% in 2007 .

And fyi obama did mean everyone should finish high school and then go to collage, not just force them to accept people who never graduated from high school. Once again you simply make that up.

That kind of (*)(*)(*)(*) only plays to the fringe right. There is a reason they are the fringe. They basically mean nothing in a society as diverse as the US. Santorum is grabbing at the low hanging fruit.

I met a woman at the Lowes at Knoxville center Mall. She has a masters degree in some idiotic Garbage that is only good for Gubmint jobs or academia. She was (*)(*)(*)(*)(*)ing about her applications being turned down while she rang up my purchase. I kept thinking "What a waste". This woman still believes that her "studies" were supposed to be productive.
    Educated moron.

There is considerable difference opinion about the actual graduation rate.

You can find numbers anywhere from 32% to 85%.

And both sides question the other sides findings.

    Here are two:

    http://www.bridges4kids.org/articles/3-08/DetroitNews2-25-08.html

    Notice that one is 2008.

Here is a source from 2011 where the libs admit to a public education failure rate of 40%.

    http://www.pbs.org/newshour/bb/education/july-dec11/detroitgrad_11-25.html

In either case its not very good, don't you agree?

I don't know where your from but the dropout rate in Massachusetts is about 3% (7% over 4 years) and most that graduate do go to college.

Actually for a big city that's about average.

Washington DC is about the same.

One is local and hand picked low, the other 60% and again local.

So your answer should have been. "No i dont have any source to back that up, I made it up going on some local numbers"

My source still stands around 70% wich isnt great but far from the 50% you claim.

And you never adressed the real issue: you made up what obama said or intended.

    Again sources?

Until you provide credible sources for the whole of the USA your argument is quite bogus.

Then maybe the country needs to model their schools after Massachusetts. Boston's dropout rate is is only 7.6%

But can the graduates read and write?

If Mass is so wonderful I'd like to see a representative cross-section of their kids take the international math and science test and see how they measure up against the rest of the world.

Because the US as a whole does pretty badly against the rest the world, usually coming in around 15 to 20.

Not only are the grade schools good, we also have many of the top colleges, that attract the brightest students. Surely, you know that by now.

I imagine students from the suburbs and schools like MIT would do quite well.

Where did you say you're from?

I expect the graduate schools to be good since they attract the best students from around the world.

But in spite of what libs like Obama seem to think not everyone in the state attends graduate school.

When our country is only #15 or #20 in the world in education I think that is a real problem that cannot be solved by grandiose promises of free college educations.

Funny how you keep ignoring posts and keep spewing the same BS over and over.

Can you give a source the obaam solution simply is "free college educations for all" ?

I'm sure you can find quotes from Obama to cover every base.

In fact Obama talks so much I'm sure he has said EVERYTHING at one time or another.

But I don't know if he's ever specifically promised free college for everyone.

Why did you think i thought he said that?

Yeah we should send everyone to high school. Brilliant!

Considering only about 64% of the working age population works, at least 1/3rd of that education would be wasted. And how much of the 64% do you think needs a degree to do their job, maybe 1/3rd of that? But sure, lets waste everyone's time and money sending everyone to high school for years.

Everyone who wants to go to high school can go to high school. Education is colossally overvalued. It's the next massive bubble to burst. People are graduating with massive debt, spending more time than ever in high school, and graduating with no real job prospects. It's like we are taking an entire generation's youth and tossing it into a fire. Our misplaced focus on a basic education that is more or less an excuse to spend 5 years drunk?, is a tragedy. We are making people poorer and delaying their ability to raise a family and own a home into their late 30s/early 40s.

Obama isn't a snob for wanting to send everyone to college. He's a moron. Or he is evil. Or quite possibly he is an evil moron.

    ...

    Oh wait.

So many overstuffed hogs can be found in America's "higher" education system.

    1) The faculty too often spends their time writing articles for journals no one reads. The tenured demigods wouldn’t ever be caught actually teaching undergrads! That’s for the serfs – the non-tenured.

    2) So much money wasted on university bureacracies!

    3) How much learning goes on at American universities?

Report: First two years of college show small gains

    4) Prices are rising very fast. Part of the reason: student aid.

U.S. Universities Feast on Federal Student Aid

quote: There is a strong correlation over time between student and parent loan availability and rapidly rising tuitions.

    5) The PC police have stifled free thought.

Campus Speech Codes: Absurd, Tenacious, and Everywhere

    6) A lot of the degrees & courses offered are entirely worthless.

    I got an A in Phallus 101
The list of the 12 most bizarre college courses in the U.S. includes offerings such as 'The Phallus' and 'Queer Musicology.'

    ahhhhh

so you are backing away from your initial liberal knee-jerk.......very good

how were you on the taxpayer funded union bailouts? Do you think all of those union workers had college degrees?

Maybe instead of pee pee-ing away $billions in taxpayer dollars we should have given $10k to each union member and sent them off to the local community college instead of bailing out the auto unions

Are we not entitled to a "college degree"?
