So you are "ignorant" if you dont have a degree?

Hardly you are talking out of both sides of your mouth and this post proves it.

Not everyone should go to college.

Of a lot of things? Probably. Ignorance is simply the lack of knowledge, those without degrees by and large know less, and as a result are more ignorant.

Not the argument, the argument is over whether the idea that we should all go to college is snobbish. I don't believe it is, therefore I've been consistent.

You've been nothing but obnoxious, provided no content and contributed (*)(*)(*)(*) all to this thread. You got anything other than snippy one-liners and deriding remarks?

Maybe you can show us all the brilliant people with high school educations.

Seriously, folks? No one caught that Santorum lied out of his buttocks? In the speech Santorum refers to, Obama said "This includes trade schools, apprenticeships and manufacturing training"

Oops. Pure whackjobbery on Santorum's part.

For some it might not be as necessary depending on their life plan, but who should absolutely not go to college no matter what? What people should be excluded?

The idea Obama is pushing is everyone should go to college. It sounds nice but it isnt practical. Plenty of people drop out <blowing the money they invested>. Or get a degree in a highly competitive field and dont land a job in that field. Or get a degree and find it to be a waste. While having a degree certainly helps its not the only way to get a decent job. The average UPS driver for example makes 75k a year + nice benefits. Now its hard ass work but and not everyone is made out to do it but its nice money. That can be had with no degree. This is just one example.

Its great that you got an education and are benefiting from it. Not everyone does.

Most do, not only are you more likely to make more money, you're also less likely to end up unemployed. I posted a graph earlier, but it's really just common sense.

I've found in life that those who say "college isn't for everyone" are trying to justify their own failure or lack of attempt at it.

Santorum is right. Not eveyone should attend an academically oriented college or university. We need a two track system of higher education - one emphasizing academics the other trade school studies. And Obama is a pathetic poseur snob, what a relief when he longer defiles the Executive Mansion with his presence.

People are capable of learning something everyday without a degree. So i dont see your point.

That "redneck" mechanic that is capable of taking any engine apart and putting it back together again might seem "ignorant" to you until you need work done on your car.....

You might want to consider not blindly believing what a politician says, just because you like it.
Santorum lied out of his buttocks. In the speech Santorum refers to, Obama said "This includes trade schools, apprenticeships and manufacturing training"

Now here's another thing and I really hope it's not too hard to figure out. Obama didn't actually mean he literally expects EVERYBODY to do this. But it's a nice goal. Like when Bush said he wants EVERY AMERICAN to own a house. He didn't really believe all apartment buildings would be torn down.

So Obama is encouraging people to: Go to college, get an apprenticeship as a plumber, electrician or whatever, go to truck driving school or try to do something that could take their particular aptitudes and increase their chance for success.
    Wow. What a snob!

And you accuse me of "snobbery"? :eyepopping:

That is your opinion. It doesnt make it a fact.

I dont agree with Santorum on most things. I agree with him on this.

I also can have a thought without a politician planting the idea in my head. Thanks

    No. I didn't.

Are you even reading along? This type of mischaracterization leads me to think one of two things:
    1) You aren't reading any of this and just randomly responding with whatever crops up in your gourd.
    2) You can't read and you're trying to have an argument with me despite that.

Which is exactly why I qualified the statement...

Actually, This makes perfect sense for Obama and pals.....

If everyone in America went to college, we'd need more illegal immigrants to do the jobs, "Americans wont do".....

Having a degree certainly improves your chances of getting/being employed. Thats a no brainer. Is everyone cut out for college? Hell no!!! Should everyone be able to go to college? They already can now. Minorities have far more opportunities than your average white kid, as far as AA and scholarships go. Should everyone qualify to go no matter what? HELL NO, but the Democrats don't care. Waste money on loads of people who will get to screw around for 3-4 years? That's a good idea, just so they can feel good about themselves and how they sent millions of kids to college who would never be able to get in on their own merit.

Finishing your degree shows at least a modicum of ability, depending on that degree and how high your grades were.

There is nothing shameful about being ignorant. I'm ignorant in engines but mechanic is ignorant in politics and other sciences. You confuse "stupid" with "ignorant"...

I went to college and I am benefitting from my education, yet I know both people who didn't go to college and are doing extremely well, and those who went to college and are now living at home with mom and dad, unable to find a job with their anthropology degrees. To say college is for everyone is wrong, and it's the reason so many skilled trades are in high demand, at the moment.

You're assuming the "things" people are being taught in college are actually worth knowing or that they're even true to begin with. Personally, I've learned a lot more from the textbooks than I have from the professors.

    So, Santorum lies again.

First, President Obama said that everyone should commit to at least one year of higher education or career training.

Second, his reason against college was that it liberalizes people and reduces thier faith. The problem is that the survey he cites has been proven wrong, and in fact some studies show those that do not attend college stop going to church more than those that do in that age bracket.

So Santorum is lying about what Obama said and is using bogus statistics to support his claims. This guy is just a lying idiot.

It's stupid of him to call people that want to go to collage "snobs". You know that.
