    Who cares about the gun laws in NYC. It's the sickening frequency of gun-related killing in your godforaken, screwed-up country the world finds so disgusting. Doesn't it bother you-or has it become so commonplace it doesn't even register any more?

    Apparently the shooter used a handgun. Therefore we need to bring back the assault weapons ban. . .

    And the shooter was carrying illegally in a city with some of the strictest gun laws in the country. Therefore we need more gun restrictions nation wide. . .

    The fact that this shooting happened in a city with STRICT GUN LAWS doesnt matter? Another example that MORE GUN CONTROL wont work.

    Let it all out man. We know you hate this country but let it all out you might feel better and if we are lucky you will get banned again making us happy. Win win.

    To some degree it is a difference in priorities. Many Americans would rather be free than safe. Thus we revere various freedoms and accept the consequences of those freedoms.

    Many Americans would be disgusted by how deeply and freely your government can watch and listen in on its citizens without any kind of warrant and without your knowledge, yet you seem to think it is perfectly acceptable.

    Someone remind me why we should care about the opinions of a country whose days of empire have long since faded away and are now living on the memories of the fumes of greatness.

    You can usually - say 75% of the time, give or take - tell when a European is talking. Every third post is "Stupid Americans" or some such analog. It gets quite tiring to listen to but fortunately we here in the states are blessed with an extraordinary amount of patience for the jealous and bitter. Take away Dr. Who and British culture becomes a contradiction in terms.
