Obama DHS Purchases 2,700 Light-Armored Tanks

Palin wrote an article sometime last week talking about all the bullets
are government has purchased { she cited the number } and Slate jumped right in
and accused her of being a Conspiracy nut.I think the Huffington Post
did as well.

Well we know now that the vehicle described in the article is not a tank- for those of us who know what 'tanks' are- this was pretty obvious when we saw the tires on the vehicle- so we know that part of the post isn't accurate.

Now what are these vehicles being acquired for?


"The vehicle has been modified for use with the DHS Special Response Team — specially trained, fully armored agents dispatched during the most severe and high risk situations, according to WOAI.

"[The vehicle] is used in the execution of high-risk warrants — including drug trafficking, smuggling, and contraband," Ross Feinstein, a spokesman for DHS, told Business Insider.

In a video posted to YouTube, a DHS supervisor gives a tour of the vehicle in El Paso, Texas — displaying added skids for agents to ride along the sides, seating for 10-11, firing ports, and enhanced protection from bullets.

"[The glass] has multiple layers in there, and it will stop up to a .50 caliber round," Robert Whittaker, tactical supervisor for El Paso SRT, says in the video. " ... so it provides very good protection for us."


"On May 3, 2012, three ICE agents were shot and injured while serving "high-risk" warrants during an early morning sweep of San Francisco Bay area gang members, according to a report from Yahoo! News."

There would be no government under Marx's Communism. People love to criticize beliefs that they are ignorant about.

That's one of the stupidest things I've heard. The definition of anarchy is literally "absence of government". And I don't think you have ever read any of Marx's works, to be honest.

If you want to argue that there is no such thing as government, fine, but then it wouldn't be considered anarchy by the very definition of the word. The topic is moot anyways, there was no purchase by the DHS for 2,700 MRAPS.

 

Been looking into this and the source is highly skeptical. Original source is some survival blog and it has just been re-hashed by all the doom prepper blogs. Some conflicting info as well regarding whether they were new or retro-fit.

Anyone find something more concrete?

Well if Rommel had invaded North Africa with 2700 hundred of these, he would have been much easier to defeat- since none of these carry any weapons, can't stop any round larger than a .50 caliber and have very limited off road capabilities- these vehicles couldn't even stand up to a World War 2 Armored car carrying the light 20 mm they often carried.
