    That remains to be seen.

But I like your avatar, it fits this subject perfectly....the same liberals who once fought the power and threw Molotov cocktails at them now love the power and throw flowers at it.

You do know that the Border Patrol, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, FEMA, the Federal Protective Service, the Coast Guard, the Secret Service, and the Infrastructure Protection Center all fall under the DHS, right?

That's a hell of a lot of armed agents.

Jeff, first off I absolutely LOVE your signature. Backatcha. But the problem is usually the same with the federal government. They say a new program is for X, Y an Z. In this case, supposedly for high risk warrants, etc. If history holds true, these vehicles will be used for much more than the stated uses. And with 2,700 of them, they can do quite a lot against the American people.

No, I thought perhaps you were.Glad to see you're ahead of the curve as well.

Actually, not .....Homeland security consists of about 120,000 armed agents in all agencies including the Coast Guard...

    http://usgovinfo.about.com/od/defenseandsecurity/a/Firearms-Authority-Of-Government-Agencies.htm

The ammo in question has not been ordered for the Coast Guard so....what are we left with , 100,000 folk more or less and 2 billion rounds of ammo..what is that per person....about 20,000!

Oh the paranoia, along with the willful ignorance, is strong in this thread.

First of all the wierd claim that these are 'tanks', then the impression that these are 'tank like'- these vehicles are lightly armored and un-armed vehicles that appear to me to be well suited to protect law enforcement officers when going after highly armed drug dealers and terrorists. I would love it if one or two had been available to the LAPD when they went after Dorman in the cabin.

But for urban warfare? These things seem pretty wimpy for urban warfare- which is why the military doesn't use them as attack vehicles.

Instead the U.S. Army uses the Stryker- which comes armed with a .50 M2 or a grenade launcher.

If DHS was buying 2700 Strykers for law enforcement use- well that might be worth some questions.

But buying armored vehicles to protect law enforcement?

As an American- I support that.

    What exactly?

First of all- I am fine with them being used against American people who are committing crimes. What about you?

I am fine with these vehicles being used to protect law enforcement officers in the course of their lawful duties. What about you?

And if the intent was to order vehicles to put down 'domestic insurrections'- they would have ordered something more like Strykers- with more armor, and seriously weaponry.

Me- I am all in favor of giving our cops vehicles to protect them from heavily armored drug dealers and terrorists.

120,000 armed agents means a greater force of combat troops than the Marines.

It also means that with 2700 MRAPs, that equals roughly 1 per 44 agents, meaning they can't even carry all the people they have.

Also, the the DHS has NOT ordered billions of rounds of ammo, so I don't understand why you are even talking about that.

Thing is....75-80% of the Paranoids....don't ever really DO anything about it, except TYPE on blogs.

Most of them aren't out building their bunker, stocking up on ammo, building jury-rigged LAWs or anti-tank weapons, etc. They TALK a good game about the "approaching tyranny" on the Internet, but most of them are "prepped" with, at most, two pistols, a hunting rifle, three boxes of 30-06 ammo, and a few cans of Campbell's soup in the basement behind the kids' old Atari game system.

Most of them?....don't believe their own crap.

Sorry, but MRAPPs have more armour protection than the Strykers.

Typical Liberal, always turn quickly to the ad hominem attack when you can't argue the facts or issue at hand.

The tyranny of corporate America and the wealthy elite. They're about to pull the plug to consolidate their power and introduce an newer, more compulsory slave labor camp. Why else would they need all that crap if they weren't prepared to use it?? The elite fell threatened and who could blame them? People aren't going to keep taking the sheet they shovel at us. They know it...we know it.

God WILL have the final say though. This I look forward to.

Okay. From what I read about the additional panels on the Stryker it sounded like they could protect more, but I will assume you are correct.
