Very much, and do you think you have made any headway to bring down the Bible? No, I don;t think so you may have many buddies here, I have one God with me.
Yup, I agree, you are comical.

Not being part of the oldest manuscript? It is part of John 4 isn't it.
    John 4:
4 Now Jesus learned that the Pharisees had heard that he was gaining and baptizing more disciples than John— 2 although in fact it was not Jesus who baptized, but his disciples. 3 So he left Judea and went back once more to Galilee.

4 Now he had to go through Samaria. 5 So he came to a town in Samaria called Sychar, near the plot of ground Jacob had given to his son Joseph. 6 Jacob’s well was there, and Jesus, tired as he was from the journey, sat down by the well. It was about noon.

7 When a Samaritan woman came to draw water, Jesus said to her, “Will you give me a drink?” 8 (His disciples had gone into the town to buy food.)

9 The Samaritan woman said to him, “You are a Jew and I am a Samaritan woman. How can you ask me for a drink?” (For Jews do not associate with Samaritans.[a])

10 Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water.”

11 “Sir,” the woman said, “you have nothing to draw with and the well is deep. Where can you get this living water? 12 Are you greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well and drank from it himself, as did also his sons and his livestock?”

13 Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, 14 but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”

15 The woman said to him, “Sir, give me this water so that I won’t get thirsty and have to keep coming here to draw water.”

16 He told her, “Go, call your husband and come back.”

17 “I have no husband,” she replied.

Jesus said to her, “You are right when you say you have no husband. 18 The fact is, you have had five husbands, and the man you now have is not your husband. What you have just said is quite true.”

19 “Sir,” the woman said, “I can see that you are a prophet. 20 Our ancestors worshiped on this mountain, but you Jews claim that the place where we must worship is in Jerusalem.”

21 “Woman,” Jesus replied, “believe me, a time is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem. 22 You Samaritans worship what you do not know; we worship what we do know, for salvation is from the Jews. 23 Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. 24 God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.”

25 The woman said, “I know that Messiah” (called Christ) “is coming. When he comes, he will explain everything to us.”

26 Then Jesus declared, “I, the one speaking to you—I am he.”

They are too busy in dealing with other anti Christians.

If it is compare to your "truth" I am confident in my truth.

Certainly not one of the conservative tilt, that's true.
However, I wouldn't imagine you would have any idea of what I've been, but you are demonstrating what you are with this post.
Perhaps you would like to put your grown up pants on and help this poor man share some credible answers to the tough questions regarding Christianity, rather than make defensive attacks without foundation.
    But I doubt it.

AlphaOmega doesn't say that new stars are not forming, or islands rising up due to volcanic activity.
    The Bible does.
God says he made the stars and the land and that it was done and that it was good and then He rested. A fait accompli.
Now we know better, don't we? We have evolved from a primitive, myth driven culture to something a bit more enlightened. There is further to go, but some of us refuse to stay in the era of the myth as worldview.

I have to ask you a serious question.
Are you stupid, like learning disabled, or are you deliberately lying or pretending not to understand?
    I can't see a third option.

The oldest extant manuscripts of the Bible do not include the story of the Woman at the Well. It doesn't appear until much later copies of the Bible.
Do you honestly think you have addressed that fact with your post? Do you not understand that John 4 doesn't appear in the very oldest copies of the Bibles that have been found. None of them. It was a later fabrication. How does your post address this? The oldest complete texts DON'T HAVE THE STORY IN THEM! It is a later fabrication by someone that wanted Jesus to say something new, or clarify something they felt He had already said.
It doesn't matter if the Bible is "brought down" or not. What matters is an authentic pursuit of the truth. When you fear that, you make posts like yours, throughout this thread. Contradicting, childish, churlish and in rejection of the very principles you have been led to believe are most important to you. You have abandonded some of the commandments and the Fruits of the Spirit because you angrily respond to questions you simply are not capable of addressing.
Truth is neither yours or mine. It exists independent of us both, and beyond both of our reach. All we have is our integrity in pursuing it.

Now mind what you are saying. Rested....

    "1) to cease, desist, rest

    a) (Qal)

    1) to cease

    2) to rest, desist (from labour)

    b) (Niphal) to cease

    c) (Hiphil)

    1) to cause to cease, put an end to

    2) to exterminate, destroy

    3) to cause to desist from

    4) to remove

    5) to cause to fail

    2) (Qal) to keep or observe the sabbath"

Now do you know what would happen if God desisted from His labor? Then where does it mention the 8th day and from the 8th day on to the present. Is God still resting? Nowhere does it say that God took up his labor again.

The Bible does say that God is the same yesterday, today and forever. Figure it out, and when you can show me that God went back to work (maintaining His creation), then let me know.

Also show me in the Bible where it speaks of volcanic activity. As for the myth.... Then you are in fact calling the Bible a myth.

It is always easy to answer simple questions. On the other hand, when someone throws in a preceding statement in an attempt to refute what I have already stated, then I have the right to address that issue first and then when that issue is resolved, then we can proceed on to answer your silly simpleton question. Yes I ignored it on purpose. Purpose stated immediately above. Respond to my rebuttal and stay focused instead of throwing in a 100 red herring questions.

You have correctly not included the word "rested" in your quoted definitions, because they are the definition of the word "rest", of which "rested" is the past tense version of it. The word "rested" did not appear where you cut and pasted your chosen definitions.
You can fool some of the people all of the time....
Then you say "nowhere does it say that God took up His labor again", and that is absolutely correct. It doesn't say He did that.
I never said the Bible said anything about volcanic activity.
And yes, I am stating that the Bible is heavily mythically born.
This post of yours is one of your worst efforts, and they have a great deal of competition to beat.

Tell another lie brucey. Most of us on here know that you have already admitted to being a former pastor. Having left the pulpit due to you seeing the devil sitting in the pews of your congregation. I have a pretty keen memory for such little details.... even if those details are clouded in the archive of the former pf website. I know what you have said, so my statements of truth about you are not without foundation. They are founded on your very words.

Yes, I was a pastor, and yes I found the exercise to be a lie we all shared.
What is a fabrication is your characterization of it. It is deliberately abusive of what I said.
What is certain is I was never a conservative Christian. As I recall, that is what you highlighted in red and suggested I was. Even in my tenure as a pastor, I tilted to the liberal.
Your words aren't founded on mine, they are a fiction invented from mine, and they indicate the level of integrity you are willing to hold yourself to.
Those with experience on PF already were well aware of your schtick, though. Nothing new.

You have correctly not even inquired what dictionary was being used.

Try this one: http://www.blueletterbible.org/lang/lexicon/lexicon.cfm?Strongs=H7673&t=KJV Notice that number 7673.

Now look at this verse and its corresponding numbers:
"Gen 2:2 And on the seventh 7637 day 3117 God 430 ended 3615 his work 4399 which he had made 6213 ; and he rested 7673 on the seventh 7637 day 3117 from all his work 4399 which he had made 6213 . "

    Get a life.

And when I looked it up, I was right.
Nowhere does it show the word rested. It shows the definitions of the root word "rest".

I have a life. It just doesn't include lying or making false accusations of others when caught with my pants down. I apologize and move on.

It must of been one of your worst efforts of a post. You only even tried to address one of the several fallacies I pointed out in it.

Slavery were started by men not God. God created the first humans as free man and woman.
    1 Corinthians 7:
21 Art thou called being a servant? care not for it: but if thou mayest be made free, use it rather.

22 For he that is called in the Lord, being a servant, is the Lord's freeman: likewise also he that is called, being free, is Christ's servant.

23 Ye are bought with a price; be not ye the servants of men.

Many early first Christians were slaves because they were the first to understand that Christianity is about freedom and equality to all.
    http://www.biblegateway.com/resources/commentaries/IVP-NT/1Tim/Instructions-Concerning-Slaves
Somewhere inside most of us is the desire to be free. We feel it most when we are constrained to do someone else's bidding. And if the demands of those in authority are onerous enough, the longing for freedom will eventually become a mobilizing force. Whole peoples have fought for it. Individuals, like my father, have left the relative security of large companies for the freedom to be found in running one's own business. Yet many discover that the road to freedom is a hard one, and that freedom carries with it new constraints and responsibilities that are often more frustrating than any previously endured.

Slaves were one group in the early church that had been especially drawn by the freedom that Paul's gospel promised. The apostle announced: "It is for freedom that Christ has set us free" (Gal 5:1). And he said that in Christ the distinction between slave and free had (in some sense) ceased to exist (Gal 3:28).

    .
Faith is what made us morally strong to stand up against wickedness and wrongs, believing in something good is what makes our society stable and secure.

Faith is not just about a religion it is about believing is an unseen or unexplainable force that motivates and encourage us to do good or to be progressive.

Maybe not, but what we have seen atheist will come up with rules and regulations to justify almost anything what is rape may not be a rape, or logic will dictate that an old woman no longer need her savings.

Doing good and bad has also its consequences in an atheist world. The difference between Christianity is that we extent that consequences to after life. What good is there for one to do good if there is no eternal consequences? That is why tyrants don't care what evil they do or sufferings they inflict on others.

It is called taking responsibility for our own actions.

Good example, for the atheist it is okay for same sex and this is what I mean about setting all kinds of rules and regulation to justify all type of actions.

Gay kids are part of natures challenges and it is our obligation to handle it properly, so instead of doing the right thing some chose to fight fire with fire.

God created system for men to operate and some men have chose to one path and others the other path.
This is again one of the greatest mystery because all of these atheist blame everything to God and yet they fail to accept that the only solution is to have no intelligent humans only unintelligent animals then we don't have to worry about anything such as money, clothing, technology etc. we will live like all other animals and yet maybe if there is no intelligent humans this world will be taken over by the angels?

Well, to show the population and readers of this forum that you obviously do not know how dictionaries function, I will now show you the same word "rested" as shown in another non religious dictionary. Ironically, it appears the same way brainiac.
    http://www.thefreedictionary.com/rested

    Your life is a lie.

    Quite hilarious.
Your citation gives the definition of "rest", and at the end shows other forms of the word, like the past tense.
The dictionary gives us credit for understanding what the past tense means.
You are unable to figure it out.
    They are not the same.

Still avoiding the rest of that post where you embarrassed yourself further, huh?
So be it. Can't blame you.
    Goodnight.

I have answer your question with all seriousness maybe because your questions are all stupid that is why you you can't understand my answers. There is always a third option, accept the truth that God exist you don't have to believe.

What oldest extant? The Gospel of John is part of the Bible it is part of the oldest manuscript. Maybe you will be kind enough to post link or sources.

I can only conclude that you have a different bible maybe one of those heretical books and manuscript.

No Brucie: it is you who is embarrassed. You can't seem to grasp the understanding that God has not rested because he is still in the process of manifesting the creation. Therein is the difference... manifestation and creation are totally distinct. As long as the manifestation is still occurring God has not rested.

Now what you need to do is fess up seeing that you say you can admit when you are wrong. You know you are wrong in denying the former pastor position you held and the reason that you left the pulpit. I have told no untruth about you that you have not already admitted.

    Good night.

Hey Brucie: Thought you might find this post interesting if you still are desiring to say that I am lying and making false accusations.

    http://www.politicalforum.com/relig...s-fellow-christians-answer-5.html#post4432317
"I am an ordained minister who left the church because the hypocrisy of the people in the pew was almost universal, quickly abandoning the inconvenient teachings that caused discomfort. You are a poster child for why the church was an appalling place after a time."

So you didn't have the backbone to stand up to those that were in your view hypocrites. Instead, you showed how much of a coward your were, how little you thought about your ministry, and was chased out because of your fear of confronting the hypocrites.... PITIFUL PITIFUL PITIFUL

I stand by it too. How do you stand up to it when everyone is the same? You are just as good an example as anyone. People pick and choose what they like about the faith, and leave the rest behind. You ignore the Fruits of the Spirit. You seldom demonstrate peace, love, joy, patience, goodness, kindness, faithfulness, gentleness or self control. You don't like that part, so you choose to ignore it. You aren't alone. It's universal. Everyone throws out what challenges them. That isn't what they are looking for.
I found myself needing to preach for the comfort of the pew, not the truth. As I continued to study the Bible and where it came from, was formed and altered, I realized I no longer could lead a flock based on a fabrication.
Does that help you understand? I left because I chose to no longer be a hypocrite.
The truth is not very popular from the pulpit.

Goodnight. Hope you get control of your anger issues. Where is God in that?

An interesting compilation of data about pastors taken from a survey of over a thousand of them.

Notably, fifty percent of them said they would leave the ministry if they could find another way to make a living.

Before being quite so judgmental, walk in their shoes.

    Can I get an amen?

I also don't understand why you have to lie, and it is a lie, a complete fabrication on your part, that I was "chased out". I left the church on my own accord. Shame on you. Bearing false witness is as fundamental a failure of a Christian as is stealing. You should be embarrassed and apologize, but for some reason your faith doesn't include that part.
Like I said, it is ridiculous how people ignore the inconvenient part of the faith while assuring others they are the real deal.
I can't think of anything I've been hypocritical about. It caused great difficulties for me to maintain my integrity and leave the church.
You on the other hand are the typical charlatan Christian, and I couldn't take it any more, in others or in myself.

LOL I am extremely amused at your feeble attempt to avoid my question. To everyone reading this, my question was simply if God is "still" creating as the above poster stated is he creating life elsewhere in the Universe? Put this one in your notebooks, this one they never ever ever answer.
He then says to respond to his rebuttal to which there wasnt one. He implied that if stars were still being made how could I deny GOD isnt still creating. Well Incorporeal God didnt make stars, I thought I clearly explained the process to you. I explained a Star is made from Hydrogen, Gravity and Time, nothing more. If you can disprove that is how a star is formed, then Id like to see your science.
I will answer any of your questions, could you please form your above stated "rebuttal" in a question? You religious type have a bad habit of putting words into peoples mouths or phrasing things like do you deny new stars are formed? OF course I dont deny that, I already stated that, you are implying that if I admit a new star is formed then I admit god is creating. SO...to be absolutely clear...pay attention now
I do not deny stars are being formed, I do not deny new islands are forming, I do not deny new species are found. They are all 6th grade science lessons. THIS DOESNT MEAN GOD IS MAKING THEM. That onus is on you to prove which I can predict with 100% certainty......you will fail to do.
Thats like me saying stars supernova, islands are pushed back under the earths crust and some species go extinct therefore God doesnt exist because he didnt stop them.
Did god make that sinkhole that killed that guy in his bedroom as well? Did he make the Tsunamis that killed thousands? Do you deny he made these? Thou shalt not kill. Tsk Tsk. Do as I say not as I do. :oldman:
Everything in the Universe has a beginning and an End, an Alpha and Omega if you will. Our universe and everything in it will die an icy death a few hundred cosmological decades from now when the last star runs out of fuel and goes dim. Is that the 9th day? What does God do when there is nothing left?

you don't get out much, do you.

it would have been cowardly and dishonest to remain in such a position. and I'm sure no sensible Xtian (oxymoron?) would want to know their pastor is faking it.

takes real courage to walk away from the known and familiar. even more when it's a known and familiar with so much baggage.

mea culpa. I stand corrected, thank you.

So, did god create homo sapiens sapiens or did he create homo habilus out of the dirt?
Did he also create all the animals and plants out of the same dirt?

How do you explain all of the extinct life on earth over the past 3 billion years or so?
If god made those as well, how is it possible that different life forms evolved and became extinct in vast time seperated eons?
Is this where metaphor meets literatal interpretation?
