Republicans never expected to get a fair shake in the Big Three networks' coverage of the 16-day government shutdown, but the final tally of stories blaming the GOP is stunning: 41 stories blamed Republicans and zero blamed Democrats.

Nightly, 20 million Americans heard “a version of the shutdown story that could easily have emanated from Barack Obama's own White House,” said the new report from the Media Research Center.

The report, provided to Secrets, found that a total of 41 stories blamed Republicans for the shutdown. None blamed the Democrats. Another 17 blamed both sides.

In addition, those interviewed by the night news broadcasts by ABC, CBS and NBC whacked the Republicans by a six-to-one ratio, said the report.

“The broadcast networks invariably blamed Republicans for the impasse; spotlighted dozens of examples of how Americans were being victimized; and ran scores of soundbites from furloughed federal workers and others harmed by the shutdown — even as they ignored examples of how the Obama administration and Senate Democrats were working to make the shutdown as painful as possible,” said the report.

The constant Democratic propaganda to the populace by the major networks has been a problem for the Republicans for a very long time. It's about ideology to these media hacks and it trumps even corporate profits as proven by MSNBC and CNN.

A study was done that revealed the GOP loses about 10% of the vote per election due to media bias.

We have a a corrupt media solely blame the GOP and bunch of lemmings buying it.

This is the result of our propagandists at ABC, NBC, CBS.... what a joke on our nation.

Of course, it was all media propaganda! who knew that it was the media that turned the country against the idiotic machinations of the republican house?

I guess the notion of taking personal responsibility is a "conservative" theme only applicable when discussing "free loaders" a.k.a. "the pverty stricken".

When its time for the conservatives and righties to own up to their blunders, miscalculations, dirty laundry and partisan foolishness it seems they are just being treated unfairly by the "leftist/socialist/democratic" biased media.

    wow.

    Truth hurts, don't it.

As Jon Stewart said, own it, don't fart and blame the dog.

Just think of what Republicans are up against in this country. Government workers, or anybody whose livelihood depends on Government, are unlikely to vote for the party that talks about limiting the size an scope of Government. Anybody on Government assistance, unlikely to vote for the party who talks about limiting welfare. Anyone who doesn't respect our immigration laws, unlikely to vote for the party who talks about securing our borders. Anyone who votes to give themselves a raise with other people's confiscated money, unlikely to vote for the party who doesn't believe in Marxian redistribution of wealth. The mainstream media is against them, as is Hollywood, as is Academia. Racist minority groups refusing to vote for "the white people's" party. Honestly, it's amazing they ever win with the deck stacked, as it is.

People vote their pocketbooks. Why do you think corporate America supports Republicans as do people working as government contractors , esp in Defense or Aerospace.

So the Republicans planned to shut the government down months ago.

The Republicans made ridiculous demands against a CR.

The Republicans continued to send CRs laden with bitter/poison pills to the Senate.

The Republicans passed a rule change that required Eric Cantor's, the House Majority Leader who is NOT the Speaker of the House, approval for a Senate bill to be brought up for a vote.

The Republicans were giddy with the thought of a government shutdown.

The Democrats wanted a CR that would keep government open for at least 1 year, the Republicans wanted 6 weeks. The end result was 4-5 months.

But we're supposed to believe ala the Right-Wing Media, that both sides share responsibility equally?

    Lol, WTF GOP...

It's amazing what a conservative has to deal with.

    • Government Agencies attacking them: IRS, EPA, DOJ, etc... also on a State Level
    • Public Education attacking their ideology.
    • Network News Media attacking them at every turn and propping up their opposition

Being a Conservative is not for the weak. If you lack fortitude, you need not apply... just go with the easy road and be a parasitic liberal.

So in other words, democrats did not budge or compromise one single bit on any issue whatsoever? Is this the bipartisanship Obama was yapping about during his campaigns? lol

Liberals have been used to this for decades.

Education should attempt to mitigate ignorance.

As opposed to the "Fair and Balanced" reporting of the corporate controlled media?

What is it they say? "Strong back, weak mind?" As for the parasitic liberal comment, shall we tally up the government perks that redders get? It's funny how many GOPer polis vote against food stamps while drawing 6 figure checks from the government ala farm subsidies.

    http://americablog.com/2013/10/pro-...n-means-federal-aid-devastating-blizzard.html

So these ranchers voted for people who voted against Hurricane Sandy funding AND voted multiple times to keep the government shutdown but they just can't understand why their gubmint checks haven't arrived yet during a shutdown? Wow.

I know. Reality sucks for tea party. Come out of the bubble and see the real world. If you honestly think that the three networks would go 41-0 in their reporting because the media is liberal, you really know nothing about the real world. These networks are more concerned about their own ratings than pitching one point of view. 74% of the public blamed the GOP. The networks were talking to the public.

Actually, you're wrong. I have a number of friends who work for the government in nice cushy jobs who vote Republican. Though after this last Republican-induced debacle, I've heard much more grumbling about the GOP and at least one friend is more than a bit offput by Republicans political maneuvering.

Yeah, fully fund obamacare, PLUS raise the debt ceiling. No strings attached. no budget cuts. no changes to obamacare (although obama can grant exemptions at will).

That is a great list. I'd like to add another group that we all know very well.

The tools, or pawns, or drones, or sheep, whatever your preferred label might be. You know them as the type for whom facts are irrelevant, buzzwords are gospel, and nothing is more important than the thrill of spouting a party line for that sense of unsubstantiated self gratification.

This is the type yelling out "Bush sucks man yeaaaaa" but couldn't tell you a single thing about his Presidency. This is the type you see on all those hilarious YouTube videos where interviewers present a right-wing position ..call it President Obama's position ..and then hold back the giggles as the uninformed dolts support it wholeheartedly because they've been conditioned to support anything left.

You see its not the fact that a person has chosen to stand on the left which leaves me shaking my head in embarrassment for America and the human race in general. Its the fact that legions upon legions of Democrat supporters couldn't scratch past the surface of generality on any issue even if you gave them a weekend to prep and a cash prize for doing the work. And why is that? Because the Democrat strategy for decades now has been to render reality irrelevant by blanketing every story, every issue, every position with emotional or racial tones designed to invoke responses that are such the antithesis of logical that facts never again show their face.

It is such an utter shame that the banner of ignorant pride in belonging to the "cool party" justifies the masses in cheering for their own destruction.

Do think about and understand why the GOP will become irrelevant. A white man's party is doomed to be a minority.

That's because, well, (and I hate to say it because I know you know it) the GOP DID shut down the government. That's a little like saying "the networks blamed the U.S. for dropping the atom bomb in 41 stories --- 0 for the Japanese.

From their compromised perspective the MSM's choice to come down on Obama's side of the shutdown fence is a no brainer. Of course they would.

Expect Cruz & Co. to devise a strategy and tactics to leave the media no alternative but to report his perspective of things.

    When might this happen?

    When it's time.
