Benny Morris unequivocally denies that there was a systematic ethnic cleansing you can try to play mental gymnastics all you like in order obfuscate that undeniable fact. The problem here is that you know so much that isn't so.

WTF are you talking about, an equal amount of Jews were either expelled or forced to flee under the Arab Leagues systematic policy of ethnic cleansing that was actually codified into law.

Ah yes Plan Dalet, now here it is in full, would you care to copy/paste the portion which calls for ethnic cleansing of the Arabs, I'll give you a hint it isn't (*)(*)(*)(*)ing in there:

    http://www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org/jsource/History/Plan_Dalet.html

Really? You support people building towns on government land? Interesting. ;roll: Nobody is trying to expel them they are trying to relocate them to free modern homes in order to get them out of the outright squalorlly, unhygienic, and impoverished conditions in which they are living in.

There is no apartheid in Israel proper, a military occupation of enemy territory is not apartheid.

You are absolutely correct it was not comparable as the Jewish agency unlike the Arab League did not have a plan to systematically lock up their own minority populations into concentration camps, strip them of their assets, and make life so generally unbearable through state supported pogroms and riots that they would be forced to flee.

Defending themselves from Arab attempts to push them into the sea?

Beginning with the Battle of Tel Hai when Arabs attacked a Jewish settlement in which 8 Jews were killed, this was followed by the Nebi Musa Riots in 1921 in which the Arabs killed 5 Jews, then the Jaffa Riots, also in 1921 where the Arabs killed 45 Jews, and then we had the Palestine Riots in 1929 in which the Arabs killed 133 Jews, this was followed by the Safed Massacre in 1929 in which 20 Jews were killed, this all culminated with the anti-Semitic Jihadist organization known as the Black Hand which routinely targeted Jewish settlers culminating in the Arab revolt between 1936 and 1939 in which the Arabs indiscriminately targeted Jews.

The Jewish Agency which became the provisional Israeli government fully accepted the partition plan; whereas, the Arab Higher Commission for Palestine and the Arab League fully rejected partition and begun a war against the Jews even before the British Mandate expired through the Army of the Holy war led by the nephew of the Nazi Mufti and the Arab Liberation Army respectively.

Furthermore; you will notice that this law was passed in 1947 before Israel declared independence, and how exactly are you asserting that Israel declaring independence would force the Arab League to lock up their own Jewish citizens in concentration camps and seize their assets?
lol with all non-Muslims living as 2nd class Dhimmis and only the occasional pogroms of religious minorities.

Palestine has been an imperialist possession since Judea fell to the Romans.

I have already provided you with the definition of ethnic cleansing under international law, sorry but Israel proper has a 30% Arab population and that population along with those in Gaza and the West Bank are growing exponentially.

Are you ready to teach israelis proper kill terrorists?

    UN Watch Oral Statement
    Delivered by Colonel Richard Kemp
    UN Human Rights Council
    12th Special Session, 16 October 2009
    Debate on Goldstone Report
    Thank you, Mr. President.

I am the former commander of the British forces in Afghanistan. I served with NATO and the United Nations; commanded troops in Northern Ireland, Bosnia and Macedonia; and participated in the Gulf War. I spent considerable time in Iraq since the 2003 invasion, and worked on international terrorism for the UK Government’s Joint Intelligence Committee.

Mr. President, based on my knowledge and experience, I can say this: During Operation Cast Lead, the Israeli Defence Forces did more to safeguard the rights of civilians in a combat zone than any other army in the history of warfare.

Israel did so while facing an enemy that deliberately positioned its military capability behind the human shield of the civilian population.

Hamas, like Hizballah, are expert at driving the media agenda. Both will always have people ready to give interviews condemning Israeli forces for war crimes. They are adept at staging and distorting incidents.

The IDF faces a challenge that we British do not have to face to the same extent. It is the automatic, Pavlovian presumption by many in the international media, and international human rights groups, that the IDF are in the wrong, that they are abusing human rights.

The truth is that the IDF took extraordinary measures to give Gaza civilians notice of targeted areas, dropping over 2 million leaflets, and making over 100,000 phone calls. Many missions that could have taken out Hamas military capability were aborted to prevent civilian casualties. During the conflict, the IDF allowed huge amounts of humanitarian aid into Gaza. To deliver aid virtually into your enemy's hands is, to the military tactician, normally quite unthinkable. But the IDF took on those risks.

Despite all of this, of course innocent civilians were killed. War is chaos and full of mistakes. There have been mistakes by the British, American and other forces in Afghanistan and in Iraq, many of which can be put down to human error. But mistakes are not war crimes.

More than anything, the civilian casualties were a consequence of Hamas’ way of fighting. Hamas deliberately tried to sacrifice their own civilians.

Mr. President, Israel had no choice apart from defending its people, to stop Hamas from attacking them with rockets.

And I say this again: the IDF did more to safeguard the rights of civilians in a combat zone than any other army in the history of warfare.

    Thank you, Mr. President.

Another legitimate use of WP is as a smokescreen for troops. The 2nd picture is very clear that it was an airburst for a smokescreen unless Hamas recently got an airforce or learned how to fly.

UN Watch is a propaganda rag and Kemp is a Christian Zionist nutcase who gives speeches before Hagee's cult congregations and tells them about speaking with the dead at cemeteries.

He wasn't in Gaza, was he? Anecdotes from a member of the military of a nation which unreservedly supports Israel is hardly convincing testimony, and I don't care how many stars and medals he wears.

The hardcore Christian Zionism of Israel’s favorite British colonel

"He’s the former British army officer who’s the toast of pro-Israel propaganda groups around the world. One of them has termed him the “voice of reason” for defending Israeli conduct in war.

But recent reports suggest former Colonel Richard Kemp is also a religious fundamentalist motivated in his ideological support for Israel by a hard-line Christian Zionism.

In July, Kemp spoke at the Christians United For Israel annual summit in Washington, DC. A report on one right-wing site said he had “delivered an impassioned defense of Israel that brought many in the room to tears.”

“Kemp began by revealing his own Christian faith,” claimed the report on Frontpage Mag (the site is run by David Horowitz, a key figure in America’s Islamophobia industry).

    Speaking to the dead

Kemp also reportedly told his Christians United For Israel (CUFI) audience that he had communicated with the dead. According to the Frontpage Mag report, he had “that morning, spoken to Orde Wingate … ‘I spoke to him this morning at Arlington [military cemetery]’.”

The late British officer infamously led the Special Night Squad, a militia used to crush Palestinian rebels who fought against the British occupation in the 1930s. According to one history of the British occupation of Palestine, Wingate had “a passionate pro-Zionism born of the religious tenets he had absorbed as a member of the Plymouth Brethren” – a conservative Evangelical denomination.

The squad was mostly populated by Zionists with the British “knowing that they were simultaneously members of Haganah,” the militia which would in 1948 play the leading roll in ethnically cleansing 750,000 Palestinians. At the same time, “Arabs caught with arms were routinely prosecuted, and some hanged” while Haganah training and arming “had been winked at” (A. J. Sherman, Mandate Days, John Hopkins University Press: 1997, pp. 121, 151).

Kemp reportedly told his audience Wingate was “the greatest Christian Zionist in Britain.”

Kemp posted an earnest-looking photo on Twitter of himself posing at Wingate’s graveside a few days after his CUFI appearance (seen at the top of this article).

When The Electronic Intifada contributor Ben White took to Twitter to point out this strange incident, Kemp replied that he had “got more sense out of him than I’ve got out of many living Maj[or] Gen[eral]s” and that Wingate “sent … his regards.”

Strawman (you're good at these), and nowhere was it mentioned that Kemp was a member of Hagee's congregation. Swim harder, you're sinking fast...and Kemp is a lunatic who speaks to dead people. Of course you might not see anything unusual in that...

I do hope you're not trying to present the electronic intifada as an independent source. Christ they blatantly tried to depict him speaking to his fellow soldiers grave stone as somehow him believing he could speak with the dead.

"Christians United for Israel (CUFI) is an American pro-Israel Christian organization that defines itself as "a national grassroots movement focused on the support of Israel."[1] It is the largest pro-Israel organization in the United States.[2]

CUFI says it draws support from the Christian Bible.[3] Operating under the leadership of John Hagee, it provides a national association through which churches, parachurch organizations, ministries, and individuals in America promote support for Israel financially and politically."

Another strawman. The man is not one from which an unbiased opinion can be found...and I so thought you would love the Daily Mail and think it was the most reliable source ever. ;)

If that's the best you can do to justify things, you are lost.

You can go to the website of CUFI and see Kemps speaking engagements there.

His associations with other extremists to include Frontline Magazine are real.

His associations with UN Watch, which is just a propaganda organization to whitewash Israel's crimes, are real.

Kemp's associations disclose who he is.

No. I just hoped that may be you could find something wrong in the speech of this professional soldier. But you couldn't.
Of course on contrary you have an opportunity to demonstrate the proper handling of civilians by british army.

Give up when you have been beaten. You blatantly tried to present a piece by someone with an agenda as, as you say above just a regular professional soldier. You also did not present it to me as I was not discussing Cast Lead till you tried this one.

Now as you say you are living in Israel, I suggest you go and have a look at what your own soldiers said about breaking the rules of war in Cast Lead plus the religious indoctrination they were exposed to.

    No pchr

I dont trust IDF nor hamas both are far from neutral.

Thats simply not true, and A civilian contractor working in a non fighting rome for the IDF for me isnt a valid target.

You are using the same flawed logic as hamas is using to attack israeli civilians: "they all have to or have served in the IDF so they are all targets" thats just as much BS.

Fact is and remains plenty of people in hamas have nothing to do with attacking israel and are simple civil servants. Lets not forget that in gaza hamas IS the gouvernement . Its like equating a US teacher to a US soldier in iraq.

Again it was an EXAMPLE I dont care if they used 1000 pound bombs, cluster bombs, or tank APAM cartridges they are all designed to be lethal in large radiusses and SHOULD NOT be used in such cases.

So NO i dont say israel cant use x or y i DO say that if israel means it with limiting the casulties it shouldnt use such ammunition in such situations as they wil ALWAYS lead to civilian casulties.

ANd its simply fact that israel keeps using this and keeps endangering palestinians civilians when theer is no immediate danger for israeli civilians.
