Sotomayor: Labeling Illegal Immigrants Criminals Is Insulting

The Supreme Court has way too much power. That needs to be corrected or the court itself should be abolished.

Technically speaking, militant Democratic activist and Supreme Court justice Sotomayor, might have a point even though it's a bit of a stretch.

America has welcomed and encouraged immigrants (mostly from Mexico) to come to the United States to do work which Americans won't do. It's akin to inviting would-be burglars into your home to take your stuff. Once you've invited and encouraged them to come into your home and you give them your property, -- they become not "criminals," but invited guests.

 

As soon as criminal illegal aliens are 'amnestied', they're no longer employable by their former employers, and a whole new wave of criminal illegal aliens move in to take their jobs, just like after the last 'amnesty'. It's their very illegal status that makes them 'desirable employees'.

 

I agree with her that most of them are not "less than worthy human beings." But fact is, if they crossed the border illegally and are living here and working here, they have broken laws. I don't know what else one would say about them if not they are "illegal." Trying to whitewash it...or call it something different is doing the pc thing. It's all about "softening up" what they've done.....so she can feel better about going soft on it. I am not saying we are going to round up 11 million people and send them back to their original homes. It's greatly our lack of border security that has caused all this in the first place; so our country DOES have some culpability. But we have to secure our southern borders.......if not giving the ones here now amnesty will just cause more crossing of the border illegally.

Its another case of this administration simply wanting to place a woman and an Hispanic; two birds with one stone......instead of going for the MOST qualified person to sit on the USSC.

 

Yup, Theyre not interested in doing whats best for America, they are only serving themselves.

I am pretty sure serial killers are insulted when they are called scum but I really don't care if they are insulted either. Criminal's feelings don't concern me.

Illegal immigrants are often victims of poverty, crime and war displacement. They have no intention of breaking the law. Only to make a better life for themselves. And I don't blame them one bit. If I was facing the things they faced in their home countries I'd be hopping the fence too.

 

Any thief in jail would tell you the same thing.

And law enforcement officers will ticket you or arrest you for these offenses just the same as they would for other criminal offenses.

Over staying your visa is an infraction, just like a parking ticket; Entry Without Inspection is a Federal Misdemeanor, a second EWI is a Federal Felony.

 

Most of those are nothing more than infractions in the majority of jurisdictions, they are not Federal Misdemeanors.

 

speeding 3 times is a misdemeanor.

possession of a controlled substance is a federal crime.
