Then he eviscerates the media with a series of questions that have remained unanswered by them. He finishes off his conference by admonishing them for not doing their jobs:

I think we have the right man for the job. It's evident that the media, President Obama, Hillary Clinton and Eric Holder are all in this little self-constructed cocoon and think that the American people don't have a right to know what happened and why it was covered up. Gowdy will get to the bottom of it.

A lot of people are going to get very uncomfortable.

That pretty much destroys ANY argument a Liberal has against finding out the truth. It also completely exposes how much "in the tank" our National News Media is for the Democrats and the Obama White House.

Nice PC, but the short guy standing behind him should be fired for not being a professional. This Gowdy guy seems to be a bulldog and I like his vinegar.

 

What interests me is that he put the left dominated Mainstream Media on notice with the nation's citizenry where those vital questions are concerned because ANYONE with gray in their hair knows that the MSM would not only have asked the questions if a GOP president were in charge but that they would have themselves been HOWLING for an official investigation by a Special Prosecutor with complete subpoena powers, period.

So effectively he just informed them that they are also on trial so far as the court of public opinion is concerned and that if they start messing with him he will make them bleed for the privilege. Now, obviously, the MSM in its determination to protect both Barack and Hillary at any and all costs are going to begin attacking his character and doing their very best to use their most favorite of all tactics against him -- the patented leftwing Race Card -- but all he has to do is continue to demand answers to the questions he's already posed and demand WHY the chronically in-the-tank-for-Obama MSM has utterly refused to demand answers to those questions from Obama and company. Oh and the MSM does not want the public wondering why. They really, REALLY don't want that to happen.

 

"That was the president over a year ago." Bush couldn't catch or kill Bin Laden in seven years. Couldn't find those WMD's either.

Yet not a single peep from the right on that. This is very much a created scandal who's only goal is to hinder the administration. Ten years of war and no one on the right asked a single question. Ten years and thousands of lives. No questions asked of the hero king of the right.

 

That's the kind of candor and integrity that I can appreciate. I would love to see more politicians like this.

 

Somebody help me with a few things.

If it turns out that Obama's whole campaign staff, and Obama, and Hillary...all told Rice to lie on TV. What is the crime or policy violation?, and what type of punishment will the Republicans dispense?

Moreover.....if Hillary or of one of Obama's staffers is responsible, what punishment then, and what policy was violated?

And just so I have this straight...I can't think of how the GOP will benefit from people saying ah-hah, we knew it all along.

Is this all maybe some attempt to show how Obama would have lost the 2012 election if he would only have told the truth????.....but that wouldn't work because I don't know anyone on the left that would have NOT voted for Obama if he did put Rice up to lying.........Now!!!!! if ANYONE in the administration admits that they didn't rescue our guys because of politics, then my loyalty to Obama on this subject ends.

 

You mean Bush was willing to PAY Pakistan to do in Bin Laden, why he was neutralized already. Of course Obama had to risk our stealth helicopter technology, which was lost in the raid just for bragging rights.

As to the argument about nobody being brought to justice, takes some serious gall to attempt to make that an issue by insinuating a lack of effort/desire to do so.

The rationale and decision making process for denying the requests for additional security are discussed in some detail in the senate report for instance.

IIRC the CIA involvement and Steven's role in being in Benghazi that night have been answered in some classified briefings that many republicans failed to attend.

He intimates that he doesn't believe either the timeline nor the decision making process in response to the attack and yet it has been investigated in detail by the bi=partisan senate intell committee and the house armed services committee. Hmmmmm.

Yet another political witchhunter whose decided what the answers will be before he starts. Now all he has to do is craftt the questions and carefully select some "expert witnesses" and see if he can convince the jury of public opinion to render a guilty verdict, despite those inconvenient little things called facts buzzing around.

 

Oh there are things that can be done the instant that a person is put under oath and then gets caught lying. But the cover-up question. Technically it is probably not illegal to create or participate in a executive office cover-up as long as no actual laws were broken in the process, but automatically some laws would have been broken. If nothing else, lying about something involving national security interests in knowingly promoting a false scenario, meaning that some high level military personnel definitely violated their oath of office in order to KNOWINGLY help the White House concoct a lie.

It's more than a trifle convoluted, but yes you can work your way up various chain of command -- military and civilian -- ladders until you are rattling the cages of genuine mover and shaker bigwigs. But it all comes back to putting them under oath early on, asking them a few pertinent questions that they pretty much will have no choice but to lie about since up to that point in time their political fortunes rested on concocting and then promoting those lies. Then later on when various cover stories begin unraveling . . . then you have got them for deliberately having lied under oath.

The GOP needs to investigate itself. They slashed the budget for security. They denied a direct request for additional funds.This committee, like all of Issa's investigations, will be a complete waste of money.

The GOP spent $80 million dollars investigating Bill Clinton. All they came up with was a blue dress.

The intent of this committee will not be to find out how our personnel could have been protected, but to look for gotcha moments and to cast ridiculous aspersions. Gowdy will ramp up the crazy even higher. There won't be a trace of rationality.

Real America will not appreciate Gowdy using the corpses of four dead Americans to score political points. Conservatives are already salivating over the prospect.

As the ninth or tenth set of hearings on Benghazi get ready to ramp up, Trey Gowdy outlines how thin his case is and how little there really is to talk about.

Of course, this was positioning. He's attacking the media in front of the hearings, not as a result of anything they might say in the future. This is classic right wing spin. Appeal to the persecution complex.

Every one of Gowdy's points have been answered. Some were even self contradictory. Many of them involve no crimes at all.

He'll have to play every trick in the courtroom lawyer book in order to make something out of this thin gruel!

Q1. Can you tell me why Chris Stevens was in Benghazi the night that he was killed? Do you know? Does it bother you whether or not you know why Chris Stevens was in Benghazi?

Q2. Do you know why we were the last flag flying in Benghazi, after the British had left and the Red Cross had been bombed?

Q3. Do you know why requests for additional security were denied?

Q4. Do you know why an Ambassador asking for more security days and weeks before he was murdered and those requests went unheeded? Do YOU know the reason why those requests went unheeded?

Q5. Do you know why no assets were deployed during the siege? And I’ve heard the explanation, which defies logic frankly, that we couldn’t have gotten there in time. But you know they didn’t know when it was going to end. So how can you possibly cite that as an excuse?

Q6. Do YOU know whether the president called any of our allies and said “can you help, we have men under attack”? Can you answer that?

Q7. Do any of you know why Susan Rice was picked? The Secretary of State did not go, she said she doesn’t like Sunday talk shows. That’s the only media venue she does not like. If that’s true. Why was Susan Rice on the five Sunday talk shows?

Q8. Do you know the origin of this mythology that it was spawned as a spontaneous reaction to a video? Do you know where that started? Do you know how we got from no evidence of that, to that being the official position of the administration?

Well... watching Gowdy speak (and I've done that) one has to admit, he's far from being stupid, quite the opposite. So, unless he put something new on the table, the hearings will get old very fast. Which leads me to believe, Gowdy will get to the bottom of things, and the findings won't be pretty.
