Perry is the cause of his own favoritism. Period.

My bad. The proper term is cronyism. When youre wrong (perry-ites) you are wrong:

It is possible that McCrum has gathered more information on Perry’s motives that will come to light later. Although the indictment doesn’t mention it, the Public Integrity Unit is investigating a scandal involving the $3 billion Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas, a fund close to the governor’s office that suffered from cronyism and lax oversight. The Public Integrity Unit indicted one CPRIT official in December for deceiving his colleagues and awarding an $11 million grant to a Dallas biotech firm without a proper vetting.

One would need to swim the organization chart here. The Public Integrity Unit is a state function to investigate and prosecute state employees and elected officials - STATEWIDE. As a state function it is housed solely within the Travis County DA's office. Travis County because that is the capital of the state - no other reason. DA's office because that's where 'A' legal function resides. NO OTHER county in the state has such a function. DA's are answerable to the citizens of the county who elected them to office and are not subject to the whims of the Governor.

The connection between Perry's veto threat and Lehmberg is that SHE is the DA who is responsible for the - WAIT for it... the PUBLIC INTEGRITY UNIT ! ! ! Get it? A drunken azz on public display. Watch the videos.

So you say Lehmberg has recused herself from the affairs of the Governor, but yet there is a charge against him for abuse of office. Now, how is it do you suppose that someone has drummed up such a charge?

Maybe if slick rick hadnt funneled money to his buddies he wouldnt have been scrutinized.

I guess you think hes innocent of that?

    Indeed: YOU follow the money.

The two DA's didn't do the same thing. If you think so, please post the videos of them abusing their office like Lehmberg did. She didn't just make an ass of herself, she abused her office. On top of that, she's in charge of the Public Integrity Unit. How much integrity do you think she has after that incident? After that I wouldn't give her a dime of state funds either.

I don't defend "slick ricks" channeling of funds to Kaiser and Solyndra. Oh wait, my bad, that was someone else channeling funds to their buddies.

Oh brother. Yall really do swallow everthing he says as golden, dont yall?

And yes, that same Texas constitution does give Perry the power to veto appropriations, but using that veto to try to close a public-integrity unit that is investigating your friends and allies does stink of abuse of power.

The political comeback of Texas Gov. Rick Perry took a major detour Friday with announcement that he had been indicted by an Austin grand jury for "abuse of official capacity" and "coercion of a public official," felony charges that if proved in court could put him in prison for years.

That is not going to happen. I'd say there is close to zero chance of Perry getting convicted, and a pretty small chance that the case will even get as far as a trial. When Perry argues that the indictment is an abuse of the criminal system for political ends, he has a valid point.

However, that doesn't mean he's an innocent victim in all this, or that the indictment isn't a serious obstacle to his search for the GOP presidential nomination.

I bolded all that needs to be know.

    Mission Accomplished Dimocrats.

Rick Perry had Zero chances of getting the nod

That's all the indictment is about, along with trying to boost Wendy Davis' poll numbers. It's a win-win for the Democrats in that regard. However, Perry was never going to be President, Wendy Davis is never going to be Governor, and I doubt Rosemary Lehmberg will win another DA election.

Bwahahahahahaha! And that proves what? It doesnt negate his wrongdoing. THATS what prompted his being scrutinized. PERIOD.

And Lady Lehmberg has said that there are no further indictments pending in the CPRIT case. I'd provide a link but I've quoted it elsewhere in these vast forums.

Ya, I can see why requesting a DA heading a Public Integrity Unit, who not only has been arrested and convicted of a DWI, but also has been filmed acting like a fat slobbering drunken bully, too step down from her position would be considered bullying. Man that Rick Perry is a bully.

Funny how being a partisan forces people like you too defend people like that woman.

Hilarious how people like you try to tap dance around the fact that a fat drunken slob who blew three times the legal limits, placing other people in danger, shouldn't have been running a Public Integrity Unit.
