I hope young women do start paying attention. I hope more Americans period start paying attention. Truth is very few Americans care about abortion enough to even consider the views of the politicians they vote for (8% pro-life and 11% pro-choice actually care enough). Most people know where I stand on the issue, and if more Americans got involved in abortion and politics in general at least we could put the issue to bed, even if I don't like the outcome. Democracy is a beautiful thing in that we have the power to remove politicians who pass laws we don't like, or re elect those that do. More need to realize their power and get involved.
"Most people" know where you stand? Is that just in America or world wide? I know where you stand...everywhere. """" at least we could put the issue to bed""" It was put to bed in 1973........but you'll always find people who like to chip away at American freedom...
You know where I stand everywhere? Do you know where I stand on equal pay, or labor unions? Or education? Nope you only know where I stand on abortion, which is the issue. an unconstitutional ruling did nothing, proof is 40 years later and the issue is still not put to sleep.
Like a lot of the Rightwing Agenda....when it becomes really effective as the Rightwing want?....that's when people most strongly oppose it and it collapses or is rebuked. - - - Updated - - - I am saving that, Sam.......so that later you can CLAIM "I didn't word that the right way" in your cowardly way. - - - Updated - - - In the days and weeks from now....when I say "Sam admitted that 'pro-lifers' are dishonest".....Sam will deny it.....then I'll post his QUOTE and the link to this page.....and then he'll say "I didn't word that the right way" and we're supposed to just "forget" that he said it. See if my prediction doesn't come true.
Most of our posts here are just intellectual exercises....I think even a few "pro-lifers" know it. 40+ years of Roe....a majority Republican US Supreme Court lets it stand.....most new abortion restrictions get overturned by the courts......55-41% Americans support the right to abortion (even if they are "personally pro-life")...... As I asked on another thread.....and got almost no positive responses from them? "Are 'pro-lifers' OPTIMISTIC about the future?"
BTW, did you also notice how after screwing up and saying "Pro-lifers are dishonest".... Sam went into his Standard Operating Procedure and QUICKLY tried to change the subject....to tax-funded abortions? Sorry, Sam.....I saved your post....and it WILL come back no matter how many times you desperately want to talk about something....ANYTHING else. (Remember your line is "I worded that badly". )
Youre taking my post OUT OF CONTEXT. Im not saying pro lifers are dishonest in the sense that they outright lie. They are "dishonest" in the sense that their agenda is gradual and not obvious at first. Passing laws to make abortion illegal is practially impossible, but their endgame it to pass laws that make abortion very difficult to get. But they cant do it at first. They got to pass laws little by little.
If you have to be stealthy(dishonest) about your ultimate goal, maybe you should rethink that goal. What do you believe is the reason that "passing laws to make abortion illegal is practically impossible'? Do you think that your proclamations that "abortion is immoral" have any validity after admitting that pro-lifers use dishonest tactics?
If your cause is so right why do you feel the need to try and hoodwink people, why not simply tell the truth . .after all according to you-you have the moral high ground in this, and yet pro-lifers can never directly come out and say "we want this proposal made law because we want to ban abortion" instead you have to make things up, like its for the protection of women... didn't you know lying is a sin.
Im not saying pregnant women shouldnt be treated differently from anybody else in the same situations, but abortion is just one issue-its an exception. No situation involving non pregnant people, has the ethical implications of abortion.
Read post 36. IF you had the Truth on your side you wouldn't need to be dishonest. You admitted that anti-choicers had to be dishonest.....who would trust them if they believe in being dishonest?
Why do you think you HAVE to get laws passed? Do you think it's OK for you to sin if you can stop someone else from sinning? If women are willing to answer for the sin of abortion (if it IS a sin), why do you think it's any of your business? Do you think it's your place to stop everyone from sinning? You're gonna be quite busy if so.
Quite right....and people who are sooooo worried about other people's "morals" and actions more than likely are ignoring their own "morals" as is demonstrated in this thread.
So you admit that pro-lifers are dishonest .. didn't you know lying is a sin - - - Updated - - - Yes you are sorry when it comes to rights there are NO exceptions.
What about them, and whose ethical implications are you talking about .. yours or the woman's. You seem to be under this sad impression that what you consider unethical should be the same for all other people .. sorry to burst your bubble it isn't
And this is why pro choicers need to be ever vigilant and not give an inch to these pricks. BTW, nice that you admit anti choicers are being dishonest.
Except for supposedly "life of the mother", Steve.....what WEEK of gestation do YOU want abortion eventually banned to? Week One...right? In fact, Day or even Hour One...if you could do it. So YOU are not fooling anybody when you talk about "24 week bans" or "20 week bans" or even "6 week bans"......you want a "week 1 ban", don't you? - - - Updated - - - Admitted it...and ENDORSED it, Fugazi- http://www.politicalforum.com/abortion/387008-frog-boiling-strategy-pro-life-movement.html
Yes....but "pro-lifers" think they can get to their end goal by phony support for "22 week bans nothing more"....which will then become phony support for "20 week bans, nothing more"....which will then become phony support for "15 week bans, nothing more"....which will then become phony support for "12 week bans, nothing more"....which will then become phony support for "10 week bans, nothing more"....which will then become phony support for "8 week bans, nothing more".... You supposedly support a 20 week ban....but it's disengenuous....because you want that nibbled at to 18....then 16....then 14...then 12....then 8.... but you know you can't go straight to "total ban"......so you're trying to FOOL people, because you know you are in the minority opinion on your end-goal.
