Southern Democrats still exist. We have two that I've seen so far on this forum. There are pockets of extremely religious left today. The problem with your way of thinking is that you compare liberals vs. conservatives by SOCIAL issues like gay marriage and pot.

That's the smallest aspect of one's political affiliation (or should be). Economic, domestic, and foreign policies make political agenda.

 

Tax cuts for the rich is such a tired old line. We espouse tax cuts period.....for all individuals and businesses, so that the economy grows on its own.

Scale back government, reduce all the fraud and waste, and get this clown out of office. That would be a great start.

Bluesguy: Once again the topic of the failure of blacks to prosper, and the plethora of excuses for their failure to prosper hits the headlines.The only thing that will help these blacks is for them to help themselves--and I don't mean to our jobs, our money, our daughters, our possessions, etc.

Will someone remind the pastor that a major theme throughout the Bible is: "You will eat the fruit of your labor; blessings and prosperity will be yours." Psalm 128.2 I repeat: YOU will eat the fruit of YOUR labor.

Blacks need strong family values with working fathers as roll models. Only they can give that to themselves. They need a K-12 education system that trains blacks to do jobs that they are qualified for. They need to stop gang-banging. They need to take responsibility for their own actions.

What WE need is to be free of the never-ending pity-parties blacks have for themselves. I am so sick of listening to it. It might be worth committing suicide just to never have to listen to this group of people whine. All of them are immature babies, that will forever be suckling at the teat of responsible, hard working Americans. I AM SICK OF THE WHINE!

Many southern Democrats are alive and well. They just don't vote because they hate the modern Dems, and the Republicans alike.

The civil rights movement was spearheaded by northerners, so Jim Crow would have lasted a lot longer under an independent south (probably to the present day).
