I have no issues with this, if he wants to preach in a prison he has to follow their rules and agree not to incite violence among the inmates poor guy not allowed to spread his hate ..... he can spread a message of love all he wants, but not hate.... do not see an issue with that.... do they let the Christian kkk in to teach their hate, should it be allowed? btw, he can still preach hate... just not in the prison, at his church he can preach away all he wants .
Christianity is just fine. When it inserts itself into government institutions is when problems arise. The same goes for any other religion.
What happened to people choosing for themselves if they want listen to such a message? We are turning ourselves into a country where we are forced to listen one way or another. The freedom is honestly running out.
In a strange turn of events I am actually going to agree with you. I see no reason to mandate that this preacher doesn't preach any inaccuracies he likes unless of course the inmates are being forced to attend and listen. The fact that he preaches that the bible says homosexuality is a sin when it doesn't, well not the bible that has been correctly translated that is, isn't relevant because as far as I can see no one is being forced to listen to him. The only issue I can see in defence of the prison is if what he preaches leads to attacks on any homosexual prisoners and the attacker cites what the preacher told him as the reason for the attack .. could this then be an incitement to breach of the peace?
They won't get any help from a Chaplain. I wonder if Atheists are going into prisons and spreading the word of Atheism. Yeah, I thought not.
Really? Well, I'm having a difficult time seeing that. Are churches being shut down? Are you not free to chose any religion you wish? Is there a religion you may not believe in? The only "right" that is in danger as far as religion is concerned, is that religion may not be used as an excuse to discriminate or otherwise break the law or insert itself into government institutions. And that was never a "right" religion had in the first place.
If that is the case then I fully understand the requirement to stop the preacher inciting breaches of the peace.
I can't speak for the prison officials, but it would make sense. I'm sure prisons are difficult to manage, and any agitation would make that even more difficult.
I didn't realize climate change had bibles and scriptures. Is there a church you can find? What is the god called? Do they have Sunday services? Also, this has nothing to do with the topic, nor do I typically comment on climate change, (maybe once in a while, but nothing of consequence) as I am not qualified to do so in any meaningful way. And unless you are an expert scientist on the weather, I might suggest you do the same.
Government needs to stay out of religious matters. Separation of church and state. So its ok to be a conscientious objector to the military draft based on religious reasons, but we can't refuse to participate in a gay wedding for religious reasons?
One of the rare times that we will agree a bit. If the government at any level is going to employ you as a Chaplain to its wards, they have a right to screen you. That would include preaching that being gay is sinful, whether Islamic or Christian based teachings, etc. If the people of Kentucky do not like it, they can effect change. That is how our system works. State and local politics should rule. Nothing preventing such here.
v-o-l-u-n-t-e-e-r please read the article. I understand that the facts do not support your anti-Christianity rhetoric but the facts are laid out in front of you. He is free to preach the state version of Christianity and not what is in the Bible. - - - Updated - - - from the very article in which linky linky was provided The Kentucky Department of Juvenile Justice revoked his volunteer credentials as an ordained minister ending 13 years of ministry to underage inmates at the Warren County Regional Juvenile Detention Center.
Doesn't matter if its volunteer or paid. His audience was made available by the government. As such, these chaplains can be screened. This pastor can preach anti-gay stuff on his own dime, to his own audience, all he wants. That has not been denied. The people of Kentucky can pressure their local pols about this policy if they do not agree. This is our system.
Excellent. Christian idiots need to be told to shut their mouths and worry about themselves now and again. Just like their knuckle dragging followers, they need to be dragged kicking and screaming into the 21st century. When will religious idiots understand that your approval and superstitions should be kept to yourselves.
those with whom he spoke were not mandated to do so, it was their choice. And there is nothing "anti-gay" and that nonsense doesn't wash. A person who chooses the homosexual lifestyle can stop engaging in gay sex. Sinners can stop committing the sin and gay-sex goes against the Bible. - - - Updated - - - interesting indeed
