IF they guy was really black. It can be hard to tell, especially if the guy is shooting a gun at someone and you are therefore doing your best to simply disappear into thin air at the time. Police, lawyers, judges anybody familiar with criminal justice really, will tell they routinely find eyewitness testimony to be utterly worthless when confronted with the actual facts. It's much used but only because it's so often the only thing available, not because anybody really thinks it reliable.
