If we want the middle class to own homes (and support the industries involved in that) we need to invest in it...with the mortgage deduction and cheaper mortgage insurance.

For someone buying a home in the North East or California that doesn't have a huge downpayment this would cost a homebuyer $100 month or more. That's enough to take many lower income buyers right out of the market.
The fewer people buying homes, the lower home prices are. This really hurts everyone

Not joined at the hip but they are both Federal support for home buyers. If you're philosophically against one...you're against both

Nonsense. There is a huge dfference between mortgage insurance and an interest deduction. In fact most financial planners will tell you to avoid mortgage insurance and use the money saved to make early principle payments.

Trump did but nobody's PMI is going up. Trump simply reversed Obama's Hail Mary EO that hadn't taken effect yet. Much to do about nothing.

They are both Federal subsidies for home buyers. If you're ideologically against one...you are ideologically against both.

And people usually only get mortgage insurance because they HAVE to. It's not a choice. They have to to because they don't have a big enough down payment to satisfy a bank.Kinda negates your argument ...ya think?

Should lending institutions be in the business of lending money where there is not enough equity to protect their investment? That's what PMI and MIP do. Who should assume this risk, if not the buyer? Big Brother?

No. The federal government is broke. If we are unwilling to pay for something, we can't have it.

So we lose the mortgage deduction huh?

    - - - Updated - - -

Exactly. It was done by Executive Order. DIRECTLY from Trump

If you are okay with government subsidizing an industry (homebuilding) then just say so. There's a large movement to eliminate mortgage interest and go to a higher standard deduction.

When was this supposed EO signed and what is your source considering you broke forum rules by quoting a source without linking to it.

I'm sorry...did I say it screwed EVERY member of the middle class?

    No?

Then why would you point that out?

Ran out of other nonsense to use to cover the Orange One's screwing of the middle class?

Oh and the fewer people buying homes means that there are more people RENTING . You DO know how supply and demand works...right genius? What happens when the demand increases and supply is constant or decreases proportionally?

Oh that's right...more renters means increased rent.

    snap

And the price of homes drops with demand. Perhaps more will save enough to put down a reasonable amount to avoid PMI.:roflol:

Trump will layout a gay guy as quick as a straight one, because he views them with RESPECT rather than pity, and that's GOOD!
