http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/majo...ine-jobs-expected-temporary/story?id=45021909 While this is true that the most of the jobs are temorary and will end when the pipeline is built, it is important to note something. Pipelines create jobs like roads create industry. There are many industries, refineries and wells that come off an interstate pipeline. If we were to talk about natural gas pipelines you could look at entire towns of industry and commercial use as well as cogen plants. Without the pipeline networks a lot of industry would die or relocate due to the fact that they rely on these resources that are transported over these pipes. So yes pipelines do increase the potential for permanent job growth.
All construction jobs are temporary. When the construction is finished, the job ends. That's why union thugs will spend half a day tearing out and half a day building to keep the job going. I had a neighbor working for ten years on a road construction project but that eventually ended, too. Government jobs never end.
His point is undeniably simple and true. All construction jobs are temporary. Why not oppose the construction of a building by saying it'll only create a handful of temp jobs? Makes sense for a liberal I guess.
It's like a switch has been thrown and now everything the US president thinks says or does is has a nasty side to it. He could come out for saving the whales and they'd scream what about all the poop they deposit in earth's oceans.
So So, was all the "shovel ready" jobs that were funded by Obama's Stimulus program. Heck it even turned out that the Green Energy jobs were temporary. All the companies went bankrupt.
Public road construction is NOTORIOUS for extending dates and moving as slow as possible. Certain roads in S. FL have literally been under construction for 2 decades. No joke. They start on one end and add a lane, then after they finish 8 yrs later, they start all over again and add another lane. Its never ending. Its pure comedy. The only way to keep the jobs going is to NEVER finish. We're not talking repaving or maintenance. Its hilarious and sad when you really analyze it. We have sidewalks that lead to the interstate, but you can't actually walk or ride your bike out there, so WTF is the point of the sidewalk? Its a sidewalk to nowhere. Why did they build it? To keep unions working.
When obama proposed his shovel ready jobs (that never materialized by the way) there was no cry from the left deriding them as temporary so why now? The answer is obvious.
VERY high paying jobs! I do work for independent pipeline welders and it's not uncommon for them to pull down $3500.00 a week before travel and fuel allowances. So do the math, couple years of that kind of pay can really put your life in order real quick! Another thing people don't consider is pipelines are in constant need of replaced and Obarry has had it so locked down that aged old lines are becoming leaky environmental hazards. The one thing you can count on, what ever you put in the ground, the earth will eventually break it down and reclaim it!
The Illegitimate One is still pushing the lie that the pipeline will create many thousands of jobs. Yeah, those guys will stand around the pipes once they're welded, and make a good living until retirement...Of course Trump never says how long those jobs will last, that's a touchy subject. Reality Check: Two guys in a pickup truck are needed to inspect what, every 30 miles of pipeline? Even 50 miles?
LOLOL.. Pipelines are monitored in real time for flow rates and pressure by computers.. unless we are going back to the dark ages.
and how miles of pipeline are in the united states already with no problems?..1.5 million miles plus ..
The collective is still trying to cover and save Warren Buffet's trains that ship the oil south. He must be quite the donor. Pay to play and manipulation at it's finest. Buffet knows how to play people for sure.
Going to work on a pipeline for a few months is better than sitting at home doing nothing. Prospective employers would be encouraged by work experience over sitting on your duff.
Excellent post. It's an obvious truth that nothing we build is everlasting & no job is actually "permanent", especially when it comes to construction.
Did I say "REPAIR" They must be replaced, so that means "new" must once again be buried across federal lands that under Obarry is no simply task! Many of these "AGED" pipelines were ran as far back as Clinton, and Bush that were far more energy friendly. Obama has the energy sector stifled with regulation and guidelines created to halt the expansion, exploration and drilling! As with everything Obarry did in his misguided Presidency these regulations have also unwittingly included replacement of "New" pipelines to replace older decaying lines that are becoming a threat to the surrounding environment they travel through.
True! But presently to stay within federal guidelines the older delivery lines pressures at being lowered and lowered and lowered until they are basically useless, then what? I think you may want to bone up on this industry a little before exposing yourself a layman on the subject.
Reality check Just in this town alone, we have a well head service that employs 22 full time employees just to service and rebuild eroded well heads! This doesn't include the pipeline crews that are removing and replacing them back in the field, NG and crude is very caustic! You also have crew that maintain pump stations of which there are many! People live in a bubble and like yourself fail to realize the collateral growth and job opportunities associated with the energy sector, the simple fact you missed the relevance of so slick, who built the truck, who maintained the truck, who replaces the tires, who sells these two guys and there family homes, food, insurance? Who educates, entertains and supplies them with electronic, get the point Seriously man you and other like you need to expand your mind some because you're seriously lacking in the overall picture!
