I think there should be "informed consent" but NOT counseling.... and I don't know how you can force someone to read a paper even if they do sign it. Did you consider: Have you ever wondered just what doctors "counsel" women about when they are pregnant and wish to remain so? I wonder if THEY are told every danger and possible complication and permanent damage caused by pregnancy? That is what forced abortion "counseling " is. If a woman doesn't listen to her doctor or accept "counseling" on being pregnant then is she still allowed to give birth?
Oh, c'mon, if we need to control women's reproduction we need to control it all. If a woman refuses counseling on abortion then she should still have the abortion.
I don't care, nor did I say who mandates it. It is fairly universally mandated. Either you listen to the doctor and the procedure explained and sign a document, or you don't get the procedure.
Not if she refuses informed consent. That is malpractice. Giving birth does not necessarily require a doctor
I see you side with Anti-Choice, abortion needs to be controlled by "counseling" but if the woman is doing the correct "woman thing", giving birth, then they need no control "counseling"..... I am surprised at you.... Again, if all the safety features, consent forms, blah, blah are in place then WHY do women wishing an abortion need special "counseling", something EXTRA ??? WHY is some dolt trying to make bigger government with more laws aimed at women who want a legal medical procedure.

I'm wondering if perhaps the person going in for an appointment to schedule an abortion would benefit from having additional information. I think the way an abortion is done should be explained. There may be some people that have never heard the pro life side and views,I think these should be known to people getting abortions so they know the full picture
Agreed! The decision is an entirely private one between a woman and her doctor. She is under no obligation whatsoever to inform/consult with any family member.
y Women KNOW what an abortion is. Yes, they may want to know the details of the procedure but they don't need it FORCED on them. NOW why don't you want women who want to remain pregnant forcibly "counseled" ?? That's going to affect their bodies and lives much more than an abortion. To be fair women who want to stay pregnant MUST be treated the same way .... ...they must be FORCED to know every detail of what pregnancy entails and offered abortion.......just like "counseling" for the woman who wants an abortion....right??? Ya know ,so they know the full picture.
OK, IF a pregnant woman who wishes to give birth goes to her doctor will she be forced to listen to every detail or forbidden to have the child? Women KNOW what an abortion is. Not all "rights" were listed in the Constitution. This does not mean they do not exist. The main principle on which this nation was founded "individual rights and freedoms "above" the legitimate authority of Gov't" is the principle by which both law and the constitution is to be interpreted. The Gov't has no legitimate authority to make "any" law that messes with individual liberty unless "we the people" agree to a change to the social contract. Such a change requires an "overwhelming majority" at least 2/3rd's .. not 50+1/simple majority. Messing with individual liberty on the basis of simple majority constitutes what was referred to in both Republicanism and Classical Liberalism as "tyranny of the majority"
Well, I do not think abortion should be banned because I believe in individual liberty and that you own your body. That doesn't mean that I have to like abortion either though, and I do not. Unlike the liberal left though, I don't have an urgent need to ban everything that I don't like.
You have the correct position - if one believes in freedom and the principles on which this nation was founded. Both the left and the right Establishment hate the constitution and the principles on which this nation was founded.
"the liberal left" wants to ban everything ?! Uh, it's the righty tighties who want to ban abortion. They are the ones introducing bills to restrict abortion as an etching away process for all out attack on women' rights....
why would that be good? I think that if someone is wanting to have a pregnancy terminated, they aren't wanting to complete the pregnancy. I can think of nothing harder to do, than delivering your baby and then handing over to someone else.
It would be good because all options and available information/resources should be presented to the woman
what's your view, should abortion providers discuss adoption options or give the women material to read?
I think the dr should ask the woman if she needs more information and if she says no, then that's it.
