If you are smart, the real lesson you should take from this is that a hugely powerful federal govt is a mistake. You should be pushing for federalism as the founders of the nation intended.

Liberals can hardly do much investigation. They sit on committees where pubs have the votes to make the calls. Liberals can't determine the rules, can't call witnesses, or subpoena documents. They cannot call the committee to order or vote to adjourn and they sure as hell cannot send any recommendations to a House or Senate floor without the speaker or Senate majority leader deciding where they go thereafter, and whether they get any vote from the full body. They get to ask questions in the committee that the chairman deems appropriate , of witnesses the majority on the committee agrees to hear, about documents the majority decides to subpoena.
