Tell that to Wall Street and the 1% who steal the wealth of the 99%

The US didn't take down either the Soviet Union or Maoist China. If you will actually read their entire history both of these nations started on a spiral downward as soon as they were established. And it has nothing to do with the US.

Did these interventions happen or didn't they?? And if they did, why?? You provide no detailed evidence for your point of view, just inane generalities.

Somehow that's less credible than the delusions of a self-proclaimed communist? No, thanks. You truly are lazy if you think any of this is going to sway people here.

Yeah, the 100 million people who died was not cause of the US but cause of how communism is completely regressive in human society. Capitalism gives us machines to do hard labor. Communism gives everyone a plastic spoon and tells them to dig.

Lol, a macroeconomics class probably would have corrected the thinking on this idea. Sounds like a Bernie supporter type of idea.

We have had plenty of bank robbers trying to redistribute the wealth. Does not make it okay to do.

And three days later all that money would be worth less than the price of toilet paper.

Based on Sanders Income, he is a lousy manager of his own resources. But he has recently bought another home.

BEFORE we divide up the wealth, lets divide up the work. All the lazy assed drones that set on their asses and think they should get welfare for nothing should have to go to work.

There is an old joke that fits this scenario perfectly. One worker suggested that they gather all the money in the country, and redistribute it equally. His friend replied, "But in six month- it would all be back where it is now". The worker said "You don't understand, man! I mean we do it every Friday night!".

Anyone can become wealthier- provided they have prudent financial management skills, self-discipline and ambition. Anyone including the wealthy can waste opportunity, fail to manage, and loose everything. Poor people with ambition and self discipline become wealthy, then leave it to children they failed to teach to be self-sufficient, then the kids party till the moneys gone and become poor. Happens all the time. Nobody truly becomes wealthy by having it given to them- lacking the right abilities, it's only a temporary condition.

A great example of present day thinking. Someone wants what others have WORKED for. Work and get your own.

True but that does what the OP said still stands. Also, that money would at least go back into circulation.

And in about 25 years, the same people who are poor now, would, for the most part, be poor again. Many of the same people who are rich now, would be rich again. Read about lottery winners for examples.

Also, if you did the above, you would instantly destroy the economy.

He has a $600,000 vacation home in upstate New York. I don't know about you, but I think of a $600,000 vacation home as luxurious. It's worth over three times what my home is worth. He's a hypocrite. He shouldn't have a home in Washington and in Vermont. He should live frugally like Paul Ryan, and sleep in his office and go home on weekends.

Against my better judgement, I watch the pertinent piece of the video.

Red flag #1 was when the speaker announced he has been a Professor of Economics his entire adult life. That means he has no real life experience outside the preverbal ivory tower. My undergraduate degree is in Economics, and I interacted with my professors enough to know that following that route would put me in an insulated intellectual bubble completely divorced from reality. Decades of private industry experience tells me my instincts were 100% correct.

Red flag #2 was his pronouncement that 300K was a life altering number. As many have mentioned here, that's little in the overall scheme of things if you don't know how to manage it. Sadly, most Americans have proven clueless when it comes to money.

He did mention this was all theoretical, but the practical considerations for selling all the hard assets needed to realize this massive 300K per adult distribution is pure fantasy. You really have to question the sanity of the people who think this stuff up.

I've already spent too many minutes on this thread that I'll never get back. What a waste.

If you gave your typically poor decision making, terminally broke individual 200k it'd be gone in a month.

They're poor because they're irresponsible. No amount of money will fix that.

Maybe if they had a little initiative they wouldn't be poor in the first place.
