If the INTENT of the person using the hate speech is to PROVOKE VIOLENCE in that CONTEXT then it is NOT protected free speech. The law will use a Reasonable Person standard to determine that if a white person dressed in Nazi regalia is using defamatory hate speech with racial slurs would conclude that it was intended to incite violence then it is not protected speech.

Self control is irrelevant because the whole purpose of Fighting Words is cause someone to lose control thus causing them to strike the first blow. The SCOTUS considers that the person using the Fighting Words to be at fault since those terms are not protected under the concept of free speech.

One of the problems is that people who feel the need to walk around with AR15s are essentially fearful people. Paranoia and weapons aren't a good marriage. I might add we have the same combination, magnified a million fold, in the white house. A paranoiac with his hand on the nuclear button. Fortunately he is surrounded by generals who are trying to keep him under control.

Show us the citations of rulings by the united state supreme court that reinforce and validate your position.

Which does not even attempt to answer the question that was presented. It will be asked again. And it will continue to be asked, until such time that an answer is provided.

There are videos showing that black individuals have become violent, to the point of committing physical assault, simply because a white person chose to refer to them as being a n****r. Does this constitute fighting words? Or is it more accurately a lack of self control on the part of those hearing offensive language?

Where is the evidence, the proof, that their actions are being guided and judged on the basis of need?

nice throwaway line that fails to address my point But thanks for proving that your anti gun attitude is based on you being upset that the NRA helps elect politicians the leftwing unions don't like

You can go to the range, walk around your, or some other, property that allows it, hunt, etc., etc., with a firearm without a need. But if you arm yourself with an AR15 and walk in, and around, a crowd of people, you better have a reason real, or imagined. If you don't, you're as big an a$$hole as those who do it out of paranoia.

None of which goes on to actually prove that those who were openly carrying AR-15 carbines at the protest, were doing so out of need. No evidence, none whatsoever, of either need, nor of even paranoia. there is nothing to go on but your word, and your word alone, which is of limited value in this discussion. In simple, uncomplicated, easy to understand terms, the claim being presented on the part of yourself is baseless.

Oh for christ sake, people don't do things for no reason. Particularly something as dramatic as walking around Charlottesville with an AR15. How ridiculous.

That wasn't the claim, that there was no reason. You've failed to proceed it was a need or die to paranoia.

There's only one reason to carry a weapon like the AR15 around in public, fear.

Imagine being afraid of people carrying guns. Hard for me to contemplate that level of juvenile fear.

What a joke. Who would be afraid of someone so overcome with fear they need to carry a long gun in public?

still spewing that nonsense that anyone and everyone who carries a long gun in public (or a handgun for that matter-didn't you make that specious claim earlier) is fearful? the only fearful people I see are those who want to exorcise the timidity they feel when they see other citizens bearing arms

Is carrying a firearm for self defense a wise idea? Why not carry the best one available?

Why did you ignore the citations of rulings that I provided you with earlier?

    Here they are AGAIN!

That's your excuse for carrying an AR15 in public? What a load of crap.
