The cartoon made very little sense. But I read it first and then I read your position.

No segment of population is treated as if they matter. Mostly because they don't. Throwing fits because you want to matter more than everybody else makes people see you as petulant spoiled children. Thus people become less sympathetic and them actively attempt to provoke you.

Fat lot of good protesting in such a manner will do.

    Sorry no lives matter.

    lol! No, lives do matter.

But perhaps more to the point of your post, BLM isn't asking to matter "more".

They are pointing out that they are being assaulted by the police, and want to move toward having a responsible police force with which they may work.

Policing can not work when the police force disrespects the population they are policing. The result is that the police force can not be trusted. And, policing can not work without that trust.

Beyond that, discrimination against our minority populations needs to end everywhere.

BS. There are tens of thousands of law enforcement interactions with African Americans every month resulting in not so much as a heated word. There have been a handful of bad shootings, literally too few to even be statistically present much less significant.

Name one law that stipulates race. That would be - and should be - illegal and unconstitutional prima facia.

    That's the wrong measure.
    - this isn't a situation where some sort of national average is a legitimate measure. The issue is whether Furgeson and other specific locations have a police department that treats citizens with respect regardless of color.

    - police can express their racial bias without using harsh words. For example, "driving while black/brown" is absolutely unacceptable regardless of the language the police choose.

    - the issue here is a matter of how the laws are carried out. I'm sure you can find lots of laws that appear not to discriminate. But, that's irrelevant. For example, the law says police aren't supposed to kill innocent citizens who aren't misbehaving. But, that doesn't mean we don't see that. And, the issue is NOT restricted to murder. The fact that citizens of minority status must treat interaction with the police as potentially life threatening just demonstrates the severity of the problem.

There are no laws that stipulate race ? What a silly comment. It is the enforcement of law that is racially biased.

That's what countless eyewitnesses claim. And this day and age the relationship is bad ecause gang elements dominate the area,

Okay let's discuss Ferguson then. The City council is majority black, as is the city. So why does the Majority Black city council sick the cops of Ferguson on their black citizens? Why were almost all the arrested rioters from some where else other than Ferguson. Why did so many African Americans testify in support of Officer Wilson's story?

I'm not sure what you suggest that eyewitnesses claim.

But, I agree there is plenty of crime to go after.

However to be effective, there has to be a trust relationship between the police and the community.

And, the BLM movement points to that fact that such a relationship is far too absent.

That's a matter of issues getting scrambled.

I don't know what you mean by "sick(?) the cops of Ferguson on their black citizens". But, it sound to me like you are pointing to the fact that even in Ferguson, the population wants effective policing.

That appears to me to be true everywhere, including in the BLM movement itself.

And, yes, things aren't so polarized that people aren't willing to step forward.

However, Ferguson was only a flash point. It is not the rule (either good or bad). And, people being shot dead is not the only issue.

The question is whether the community trusts, respects and is ready to cooperate with the police force there - whether they believe they are being treated fairly and equally.

    It's a sign of failure.

It's born out of an us v. them environment.

It's easy to say that the entire population is at fault or that the citizens of the community all need to change their opinion, but that isn't going to happen outside of change in the way they are policed. If the police behave as the enemy, if they may legitimately be pointed out as discriminatory and a danger to be around, the issue will grow until it is finally resolved through change to the policing.

US citizens do NOT like discrimination, especially when they are the target.

Hmmm. According to that chart, if you are black, you are 70 times more likely to be killed by a black person than a white person if you are black.

So black lives don't matter as much as we were lead to believe, in some instances.

As there are something like 7 times the number of minorities in the US, I would say that is an incredibly low bar.

And, it doesn't even slightly indicate whether the identified police departments are behaving in a legitimate manner.

    Denial?

    I don't believe I denied anything.

Are you trying to deny that a problem exists?

To me they are worthless. To you, they might have some meaning, but... opinions vary.

Screaming "Black lives matter!" isn't going to change anything.

It's very obviously born of frustration with a lack of progress.

This really is not any different from any other protest movement.

The first step toward a solution is recognition that there is a problem. And, they are forcing us to recognize that there is a problem.

Saying there isn't a problem doesn't even start to make sense.

I find protests to be less than valuable, if I'm honest. I could go to my boss and protest the fact that I am not being paid more than I feel I am worth, but that's just going to result in the value of my work being less than it was before my protest, so I get fired and I'm even worse off than before.

Is there a problem with cops killing black people? I don't know, but burning their own neighborhoods down isn't adding anything to their value as blacks. In fact, the Detroit riots resulted in Detoilet, which is worth a lot less now than it used to be.

If I was black and feared the police, I'd move because I'm intelligent enough to know that protests are self-defeating.

Hey, it's not my problem. I'm just offering some solutions as to what the blacks can do that aren't so incredibly stupid. Move to where it is safe, and then get on with your life by providing a value to society.

or you can burn your neighborhood down, thus proving to everybody else that maybe black lives really matter a lot less than you previously thought.

Our constitution states that they matter to our government every bit as much as ever other life in America.

And, that's where we're falling down.
