For trucks from Canada and US to go to China, Europe and possibly Africa. A 2-3 weeks and a container sent from Washingtons arrives to let's say Brussels. Or you get in your car today and after a week you come to Delhi.

But such a bridge is not the nearest future anyway.

Oh yeah! That was just the Kremlin. Here's Tsar Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin's Winter Palace. Looks like they kept the Italians rolling in dough:

Too bad the Romanov family was killed off and Russia didn't join the West.

Russia under Tsar Nicholas II had the fastest growing economy in the world, but it took decades to recover from the revolution. Nicholas had great plans, and the papers were drawn up to distribute his lands to the people ...but the Bolshevik lies and his relative's ambitions for the throne destroyed that... not to mention WWI.

Anyway it was meant to be. The Tzarvich Alexis had hemophilia, and his sisters were carrying the genes as well, so their sons would have inherited it. Alexandra suffered from intense guilt feelings, and her mother in law never wanted Nicholas to marry her ...probably because of the hemophilia that was a mutation from Queen Victoria. Alexandra was so sick neurologically, that she had to be pushed around in a wheel chair.... and couldn't even greet guests.

This of course didn't endear her to anyone, thus the Bolshevik smear campaign through Nicholas' free press. Of course the Bolsheviks took control of the press when they came into power.

At the time the US, (with Britain of course), considered absolute monarchs as the cause of all wars. Notice how peaceful the world has been since the Tsar, the Kaisar, the Austrian Emperor, and the Ottoman Sultan were kicked off the throne.

Small business' did build up our country, but now they are being discouraged in the US with regulations and taxes, so that everything is being bought up by the multinationals. I lived in Westchester, and there were about 5 CVS' within a few blocks. Of course the intent was to knock out the small pharmacies, which they did.

In Manhattan there are sometimes 2 or 3 Starbucks across the street from one another, and no more luncheonettes. I mean who could afford 20 thousand a week rent? Then there are the farmers in the mid west who had to sell their lands to multinationals, because they couldn't afford the inheritance taxes.

Perhaps you should consider moving out here to a red state.

Alaska has been a part of the U.S. for quite a while. It has even achieved statehood.

A bridge between Texas and Russia sounds like a great idea.

No comparison. Just look at the heights of the ceilings. One is an authentic time period palace, the other one is suburban Liberace on a spendthrift mode.

Another day, another pro-Putin, anti-American thread from Purveyor of Delusions.

I like how you go into comparing us to China instead of Russia precisely where it's convenient. Why don't you compare our economy to yours in the same terms as you compare it to China's?

The reason for high ceilings is for keeping the rooms cool during the hot summers. But I bet there is a fireplace in every room to keep the rooms warm during the winter.

Below are Queen Anne Victorian houses. Notice the tower (turret) it's 19th century air condition. Heat goes up.

The bridge is the longest in Europe, and it does look different than the one in the original video, so I'm posting another one below. I'm assuming the design they chose is much sturdier, albeit less attractive, since Putin did say it's being made to last 1,000 years.

As I was looking for a video, I came across a bunch of nonsense on wikileaks by so called experts saying that the bridge will collapse. No doubt its wishful thinking, and an attempt to denigrate Russia, but since most were Ukrainians, it could be that they know something that we don't. They did try to ram a pillar once, but I'm sure Russia is prepared for any eventuality... including war.

We also produce money making machines, and that's a big plus. Or at least for the Pentagon it is.

It's my pleasure to see that people from the USA are awared about the Russian culture.
You both are correct and incorrect at the same time. Jeannette presented two palaces: the Winter Palace in Sankt-Peterburg and the great Kremlin Palace. The first palace was built by Italian architect Rastrelli. The second palace was built by Russian architect Thon.

It's correct to say that Russians use Italian experience in architecture, but are they, Italian architects? They were born in Italy but worked and died in Russia. They are Rastrelly, Rossi, Quarenghi, Trezzini, etc., etc... They are Russians. When I worked in the Bologna University in Italia I discussed with guys from the architect department. Nobody knew their names there. But all Italian architects know their creations.
Look at these photos. The first photo everyone knows. It's the Kremlin.
But if you would look at this picture (the Old Castle in Verona) then you understand that it's typical Italian Renaissance.
Italia is my favorite country, but we have to be honest. Italia has no such great buildings like these Russian palaces :)

Lady, you are really right! The onion domes is an element of the pure Russian church design. Though, your opponent could say it's the Indian style :)
I heard a version that it's the old Russian pre-Christian style. The Pagan style. The onion dome is.... Hmm... OK. It's the head of the penis. The symbol of fertility. Don't ask me what little domes on the sides of the big one mean :) :) :)
