I see pretty woman in a tasteless interior. Combining of boroko with constructivism.... I never see worse.

    Russian engineering LOL!!!

Anyone ever hear the astronauts talk about the Russian space station? It was like living in an old stinky bus that was falling apart.

About food. Do you mean meat that cannot be traded in EU and Russia because of hormones in it? Or do you mean the poisoned wheat? I afraid it's difficult to name it as a food.
Now planes. Dreamliner is an American plane? :)

Well all creation comes in 3 and 9's. Now if you can figure out how, you're smarter than Nicola Tesla. There are 9 in the celestial order and angels are the lowest.

Anyway in Christianity the 3 domes represents the Father (Creator), Son (Word of God) and the Holy Spirit (God's love which goes throughout the world).

As for the dome, it's based on the arch. Aghia Sophia which was built by the Emperor Justinian in the 6th century had the largest one. There were also a succession of arches and domes to support it. It was considered an architectural miracle. All the other structures in the world including mosques are based on it.

If I had the cash I'd like to take a River Cruise through Russia. And Western Europe too. Beautiful places.

But they were up there, and that's something the Americans can't do without Russian rockets.

No country has great palaces like Russia. These are the homes in Newport Rhode Island, but they don't even come close.

How did they heat those palaces in Winter or was one suppose to
dress for cold except when in "living areas". Home. Office?

The Russians are one of the great peoples of the world. Anyone who is even remotely familiar with the history of science, mathematics, music, or art knows this. They also bore most of the burden in destroying the vile pestilence of Nazism. They've had a hard history, and it shows. Despite this, they've moving up. Get used to it.

Congratulations to them for this engineering feat.

What should be interesting to all the genuine followers of Political Forum is this question: in whose interest is it to stir up enmity between Russians and Americans, two nations who have no real conflicts of interest?

We can learn from a Russian here: Lenin said, always ask 'Cui Bono?' -- Who benefits?

Who benefits when supposed Americans taunt Russians about their 'backwardness', or vice versa? Who would want to prevent Russians and Americans from co operating? Who -- what movement -- is the enemy of both Russia and America?

A military clash between Russia and America would no doubt result in great damage on both sides, because both sides have competent militaries with advanced technology. Who would cheer when this happened?

Anyone can claim to be anything they like on the internet.

Who would benefit from registering and pretending to be an American, or a friend of America, and then insulting Russians, or pretending to be a Russian, or friend of Russia, and then insulting Americans? (Not that there aren't genuine Americans and authentic Russians who are stupid enough to indulge in tribal mine-is-bigger-than-yours boasting.)

Hint: it would be sympathizers of a movement which has shown itself skillful in using social media to recruit for its evil cause.

And all it would take would be one person doing this, to start off an imitation-game from among the gullible useful idiots among both Russians and Americans.

Anyway, as an American, I congratulate the Russians on the Kerch bridge, just as I congratulate them when one of their airstrikes sends some ISIS followers to Paradise.

I don’t hold any negative views about Russians themselves. I think Russia is our geopolitical adversary. I also think putin may be one of the most ruthless men alive and is a de facto totalitarian dictator who has his detractors assassinated.

That said, how did they build a bridge that long that quickly and for so little money which will last “a thousand years”? It sounds so fantastic, it crosses the line into propaganda.

Russia is not a liberal democracy. Hopefully, some day it will be. There are a lot of Russians who hope this as well ... but so far, not enough Russians. Most of them see Putin as a strong leader who has restored their standing in a dangerous world. Only the passage of time can bring about the deep changes in popular mood that will allow Russia to join the rest of Europe as a liberal democracy ... a passage that will bring a new generation to power.

The more we can engage with Russia, trade with her, engage in joint ventures economic and otherwise, the better. I wish that a hundred thousand young Americans could go live and study in Russia for a year, and vice versa.

But no, it's not a liberal democracy.

However, it's not a totalitarian country either, at least not as the word 'totalitarian' was used for many decades after WWII. It's very different from what the USSR was, or even what China is today.

Put it this way: in a totalitarian country, you cannot freely choose to leave, even temporarily.

To understand Putin and the Russians, I recommend this essay. (Warning: it's by a senior editor of the neo-conservative publication The Weekly Standard, so if you or whoever's reading this don't like conservatives, well, you have been warned.)

And to get a feel for daily life in Russia, at least as refracted through the educated Moscow eliti, look at this publication.

You'll see why the easy American assumption of a wicked bloodthirsty totalitarian ruler reigning over a nation of cowed serfs is a million miles from the reality.

Oh... Russians used to listen the universal argument "it's propaganda" :)
