Well the major one is the IRS, which is closing half of it's operations apparently. That means everyone trying to figure out the new tax plan will have difficulty getting answers.

I suspect that's part of Dems plan.

Not paying the military affects us all.

No but it does affect millions of Americans, including those risking their lives in the military, all because democrats want more illegal aliens taken care of.

Ultimately the president decides who is essential.

"All active-duty military personnel would keep working in the event of a shutdown. They would be paid up to Feb. 1, and then continue on the job without getting paid until the shutdown ended or until Congress and the president agreed to cover their costs before it ended.

The last time the government shut down, in 2013, the military remained on the job and legislation to pay service members during the shutdown was signed by President Barack Obama. The same legislation, called the Pay Our Military Act, was used to bring back nearly 350,000 of the 800,000 civilian personnel who had been furloughed by the Defense Department. Because it was unable to pay death benefits to the families of soldiers killed in action, the Pentagon also contracted with a charity that footed those costs until the government could reimburse it.

Ultimately, it's up to Trump to decide who stays on the job and who goes during a shutdown, said Stan Collender, an expert on the federal budget at Qorvis MSLGroup.

"Not only can the president decide who or what is an essential activity, the president can change his or her mind anytime," Collender said. "In the past, every president has exempted the military, for obvious reasons."

Yes, the POTUS can make them work, but he's not the one who decides if they get paid. That's Congress.

Historically Congress has always funded pay for the military during shutdowns and I'm confident this republican Congress will do just that.

    The good news?

They're keeping National Parks and monuments open

    The bad news?

They're furloughing the people that make these parks and monuments function

Good luck and don't get lost. There'll be no one to find you

Trump is the president of Americans, not Mexicans.

If the Democrats want to fund Mexican citizens, they're welcome to fund it with their own paychecks.

DACA isn't amnest for all illegals. It's amnesty who people who were brought into the country as children, and about 80% of Americans support it. I guess conservatives don't give a rat's ass about the will of the majority unless they agree with the majority's views.

They're illegal aliens whose parents cared so little about them that they tore their families apart in Mexico to flee to a foreign country where they might die in the process.

80% of Americans support it in theory, until they have to pull $1 out of their pockets for it.

I didn't say it was amnesty for all immigrants, democracies are not governed by referendums, let alone by biased and absurdly unreliable opinion polls. Duh

And DACA illegals will get their path to citizenship.... in exchange for end of chain migration which now allows them to bring 10 million of their family members to the US and stronger immigration laws that will prevent this DACA situation from happening again in 10-15 years.

Of course NOT! Then the next question is, why did dems wrap DACA around whether funding would be continued?

My guess is dems want to lose the 2018 elections so badly it'll make your head spin. LOL

Seems to me this was caused not only by Republicans, but by the entire congress who dug their heels in and refused to negotiate. I am having a hard time understanding why Schumer, Pelosi, et. al. would put the interests of illegal aliens over the interests of American citizens. In Pelosi's own words, "people will die... PEOPLE WILL DIE. OH MY GOD PEOPLE WILL DIIIIIIIIIIIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Seems to me you're a partisan Trumper who ignores ALL of the attempts at negotiation. ONE example was the Bi-partisan propsal that Trump "shitholed:"

I don't claim to know what others may think - but I don't give a rat's ass about a bunch of crotch grabbing, flag burners.

As I have said over and over, republicans are winning elections by doing what their constituents want done. Dems have been LOSING elections since 2010.

Dems have no business telling anyone how to run the government as they continue to march in lock-step over a cliff.
